New owner through resale purchase

We recently purchased 150 points at OKW via resale market. Will we be receiving a "Welcome" package from DVC similiar to the back pack we received in 2004 when we purchased at SSR through Disney? The OKW purchase was an entirely new contract; not an add-on to the SSR contract.

We're just curious about this. We closed on this resale about 6 weeks ago and the only thing we received from DVC has been the membership cards. Shouldn't we also be receiving the big box that contains the vacation planning guide, initial offering statements etc? Perhaps some of you who have purchased via resale could provide me with some info.

We purchased 2 new contracts (120 and a 270) at SSR through resale. The only thing we received from Dis was a welcome packet that included a small DVC "perks" booklet (which you'll get when you check in to any DVC resort), the points catalog and a few other informational items. When we toured through Dis, we received a couple of additional perks (nice hard-bound book with pictures of the DVC resorts and a canvas DVC bag). Other than those two items, some park maps and a little more on DVC via a glossy booklet, the rest of the info was pretty much the same.

That was our experience. Yours may be a little different, though. By the way... WELCOME HOME!!!

Now you know why it costs more to buy through Disney. No freebies for resales. We didn't even get the perks booklet.

That's okay Disneynutz! You'll get one in your packet at check-in. All it does it outline where you get discounts, limited info about annual passes, etc. Believe me, it wasn't anything to get excited about!

To further explain, we had gone down to Dis and toured DVC. Decided to purchase and got this nice packet with contract, glossy book, welcome packet, park maps, DVC bag, etc. We got home, I did more research and decided to buy via resale. Cancelled the DVC contract and purchased through GMAC International mid-January. So, I got the "Dis" DVC version and the "resale" DVC version. The resale version wasn't bad, but it sure didn't have the overall presentation that the Dis version had. Oh well, folks, we still have our contracts that for all intents and purposes, spend just the same as my SIL/BILs who purchased at OKW via Dis.

Please post back and let me know what you end up getting. I'm curious, as I thought our package was watered down because we had just received the Dis package in December. Oh...one last thing. It took Dis NO time to get our package to us. We went to Dis the week before Christmas. Toured on the 12/19 and returned home on 12/21. We live in OH and when we got home, our package with the materials and contract was sitting on the counter waiting for us, as my in-laws were staying at our house. Let's just say our resale package didn't come quite as quickly!!!

When I purchased a resale earlier this year I received the New Member Handbook and a guide to points and the other collections, nicely put together full color brochures. When I recently added on 40pts I received a blue hard sided file for my documents, and a really large, rather heavy tote bag with the DVC logo on it. I do use it but it wouldn't be something everyone would use. Oh, and...
