Hello! I am a new owner (deed just posted, still waiting for membership information to arrive in the mail!). I am just curious- what is the official language DVC uses to distinguish between those who purchased direct and those who purchased resale (like me). I know I won't get the discount card and such, I'm just curious how I will be referred to by Disney.

I do remember there was a way to know the difference on the member site. Someone correct me - :)

If you go to Member Profile - does it say Purchaser under your name?

This comes to mind. Curious.

I think the official language shows up in different places in different ways.

At one level they try to make us feel good by telling us, "It isn't so much the person but the points." The points are either "qualified" (direct/grandfathered) or not (resale since restrictions).

At another level, the member (person) is given a "blue" membership card if their membership (account) is qualified. If not, the same member (person) is invited to print a "white" membership card from the website.

FWIW, the words "direct" vs "resale" are used often and easily understood. Go with that ...

Edited to add: Congratulations on your new purchase and Welcome Home!

Thanks for the info! Looking forward to gaining access to the DVC member page!

I am not sure there is a lot of differences in terms of CMs and DVC as we are all owners at members.

But as mentioned, it is more above the membership vs the person.

I believe the members who bought resale are referred to as "smart". LOL...just kidding everyone.

DVC gives membership extras to those with blue cards and those without are not eligible.

What a CM chooses to do is up to them, but the DIS does not allow discussions to get around DVC or WDW.

I am going to close the thread.
