I'm a new member wanting to book DDP for part of our next stay. I think I'm ok about the segmented reservations part, but I'm unclear when the DDP credits will expire.

Say if I book DDP for the nights of the 1st - 5th (5 nights DDP) will the credits expire at midnight on the 5th or midnight on the 6th (or not at midnight at all)? :confused3

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

Dining Plan credits are valid from (pre-)check-in until midnight of your check-out day. Keep in mind that you'll have two separate reservations, so your Dining Plan credits will expire at midnight of the check-out day of your first reservation.

The will expire at midnight of your 6th night (which would be your check-out day of the 1st segment).

Right now, I have read that you need to go down to get new keys for the segmented parts but I also read this would be changing as the system upgrades get all in place.

Thanks for the quick replies :)

so segmented reservations put a little pressure on you to use up your credits sooner than maybe you would have?

Not really. Rather, the point of having two reservations like that is to have the Dining Plan for part of your trip, and to not have the Dining Plan for the rest of your trip.

Hi am also a new owner and have a question related to the DDP so I am jumping in.

We are taking a 14 day trip to Disney and someone is coming mid-trip. If we had the DDP the entire trip, does the person coming mid trip have to pay the entire time or just the portion she is there? She will be in the same room as us.

I know that everyone in the room has to have the dining plan, but was not sure how it worked when someone was joining us. Do I need to have the reservation segmented???

There is 1 other "glitch" that I have found in the system for segmented reservations (under the same reservation number). The system will not let you book 180+10 dining until you are past the last day of your reservation, so you can not take advantage of 180+10 on line or through dining reservations. DVC have figured our a clever work around until it is fixed by creating a temporary cash reservation for the time frame under you name and then canceling it after the dining reservation is made. It always amazes me how creative MS is in working around the Technonogy departments "problems".

Belle,

Yes unless you segment they would have to buy DDP for the whole trip.
