New Orleans Mint Julep

I liked the one I had. It was minty/lemon-lime flavored, which is a combination I happen to enjoy. I have heard others describe it as tasting like mouthwash, though.

Yeah.... I didnt like it. Tasted like mouthwash to me.

I gag with anything "mint" tasting. I won't come within 10 feet of one of those. Mint and I just don't do well together.

I like them but my girl thinks the mouthwash theory is valid.

Back in the day they used to serve Mint Juleps on the Mark Twain riverboat, I guess the overall lack of popularity these days doesn't warrant it anymore. I think it would be neat if they served fountain Shirley Temples or other soda drinks on the boat as you were moving.

I thought it was disgusting. Lol. I tried it at the french market. I'm bad- I poured a tad bit into my cup to try it. Not my cup of tea. So I poured something else in my cup!

When we were there last year, the ones at French Market buffet place were horrible but the ones we got at the Blue Bayou were great. It wasn't the atmosphere, I even discussed it with the CM's at both places. The CM's at French Market said they don't like them and have had complaints but the CM's at Blue Bayou have nothing but positive feedback. Weird. I don't know if they make them differently at the two locations? I personally threw away the one we got at the French Market -very disappointing. I would recommend eating at Blue Bayou and getting them there, or maybe try to see if Blue Bayou will sell you one without dining there?

Maybe that explains it! I tried one from the French Market. Yep, just like BAD mouthwash.

The Mint Julep is just one of those things that you'll either love or hate, but it's worth trying in order to decide for yourself. Personally, I love them. Minty refreshing goodness! :drinking1 I've had them from The Mint Julep Bar, French Market, Blue Bayou, and Cafe Orleans and have never had a bad mint julep experience with any of these locations.

Getting a Mint Julep and fritters for a snack while at Disneyland is always a must for us. If we don't get one, our trip is not complete. I'm one of those people who absolutely love them!

I've had them at both the Blue Bayou and at the Mint Julep bar behind the French Market, and they're exactly the same.

When we went several years ago the ones in the special "Julep stand" behind French Market were great, just like Blue Bayou. On our trip last fall, that stand was not open but the French Market restaurant was.

It was only on this last trip in Sept. that there was most definitely a difference in the one I got at French Market (inside the restaurant). Maybe it was an "off" day for some reason?

I absolutely LOVE the Mint Juleps at DL and there was no doubt something was different. I had my sister taste mine also just to be sure and she could tell the difference. I rarely in my life would throw out a brand new drink I just purchased. I was very disappointed.

Now, that would've been a big disappointment! Maybe they did have a bad mix that day. I would've been upset if my favorite snack wasn't good. Hopefully it was a bad mix and it hasn't changed!

I would have been a lot more disappointed if it was a one day only visit, but we were there for 5 days and ate twice at Blue Bayou so we got re-fill after re-fill there (our waitresses were great about it). And even got some in those "to-go" (little kid) cups when we left the BB. Yummy!

Disney's mint julep is to real mint julep what Taco Bell is to Mexican food. It is totally NOT the real thing, but it has charm of its own if you can think of it as a totally different item with the same name.

I love them but they are so not a proper mint julep. :)

I like them quite a bit...

My sister thinks they taste like toothpaste though

You got that right! Real mint juleps are pure bourbon, sugar, mint and maybe some water to dilute it (or not) poured over ice.

The closest description I can come up with for the Mint Juleps at DL is that they are like a mint flavored lemonade. Or a mint flavored Italian soda.
