i AM UNSURE AS TO IF I SHUD BUY FROM DISNEY DIRECT OR RESALE FOR A LOT LESS

PLEASE HELP I HAVE 5 DAYS LEFT TO CANCEL MY ORIGINAL ORDER WITH DISNEY

COMMENTS APPRECIATED

I would stay with what you got.Remember if you got SSR thats for 50 years and resale is until 2042 and thats a 10 year difference.

If SSR is what you want, stick with disney. If you truly want a different resort as your 'home', then buy resale. Price and time differences are really minor considerations. You should only commit to the one you love. ;)

to be fair Saratoga is the only one available to buy, we do prefer bw and bc as resorts and its a good point u make about buying the one you love

cheers

If you love BWV and BCV and have the ability to finance or pay cash for a resale, the willingness to wait for the right one to come along and you don't mind a 38 year contract instead of SSR's 50 year contract, then cancel the purchase and buy the place you love.

50 years is a long time to regret something. But a great length of time to enjoy it.

Remember you don't have to stay at your home resort. You could stay at any resort.I have The WLV,BCV and now the SSR as my home resorts but have stayed a few times at the BWV and WLV.I have only one stay at the BCV in the 2 years I have had it.The 11 month window is good but I have never had problems getting studios and 1 bedrooms. If you have enough points for 2 bedrooms and grand villas then the 11 month window helps.I have found the BCV rooms are the hardest rooms to get.I had to talk to 3 or 4 different supervisiors to get my 2 bedroom at the 11 month window. They gave me one of the hold back for cash rooms because I was not taking no for an answer.my wife and kids like the BWV the best and I dont have any points with them so stay with what you got unless having the other is going to make you a much happier DVC owner.

Tiggerguy, you made your call at the 11 month window and you were told there were no two bedroom units available????That is not right, I am glad that you did not take no for an answer. What month were you booking for? How did you finally get a supervisor to give you one of those rooms, inquiring minds would like to know, please. BCV is my home resort and I would be very upset if that happened to me.

It was the first week of December and when I called they said no 2 bedrooms available unless I wanted to stay every other night for 2 nights only during the 7 night stay.I kept calling back and letting them know I was very unhappy with not getting a room at the 11 month window. At that point I asked them to buy back my 400 points that I have (200 WLV,200 BCV) because I was not happy with what was going on.During the summer I wanted to stay at BCV and called at the 5 month window and was unable to get a 1 bedroom but I understood then because everyone wanted the BCV . I was able to get a BWV 1 bedroom instead.
The BCV has become in my mind the hardest room in DVC.The first week in Dec also has become a hot ticket because of the points value and alot of web-sites have there meetings that week.Last Dec 5 or 6 of the web-sites had things going on so alot of people went that week.

Tiggerguy, thanks for filling me in. I am so glad that you stood your ground and were able to get your unit. I do not blame you one bit asking if they wanted to buy back your points. I would do the same. We have 202 points each at the BWV and the BCV. I know not to take no for an answer if this happens to me. Thank you.

This illustrates one of the issues with DVC. If 100 people call every day for 7 days and all want a 2 BR of which say only 50 are available. If they all call every day, only maybe 5 will get the full 7 days they want. They can't give you what they don't have. This info is available prior to purchase and anyone buying in should know about this potential problem prior to purchase. Most points systems accept 7 day reservations when the window opens and only later accept odd day lots.

I just filled out the paperwork today and will be sending it back on monday for another 100 points at SSR.I wanted my 3 daughters to have 150 points each for there future family and I will keep adding to the number.
18 days for our next trip
2 nights french quarter
4 nights hard Rock Deluxe room
4 nights polynesian in 2 garden rooms
I had the Concierge room but I got 2 garden rooms with 6 people instead with my points.I can see by the final days we will need our space.

Buying from Disney:

1. Your option is SSR (not a lot of SSR resales, but if you really want SSR, you can find them, if you are patient on the resale market - and in a year or two, you'll find more of them).

2. Financing is easy

3. SSR has the 50 year deal going (for us - in our late 30s, we aren't interested in being in Disney in our 80s, so we don't care).

4. Once they get your deposit, you'll immediately be able to make reservations - important if you are planning a near term trip.

Buying resale:

1. Usually cheaper - although you will pay closing costs

2. Availability of the other resorts to choose from

3. Resales can take a while to close (two months after the offer, or more, sometimes) and you can't make reservations until you are in the Disney system. Resales are not good for people with plans to use points in the short term.

4. You have to pay more attention. The point distribution (how many points are current, how many borrowed, how many banked, how many will come next use year) can add or subtract a lot of value to the contract in question.

I find it interesting that DVC "holds rooms for cash" at the 11 month window. I sure hope they aren't holding back more than the percentage they own for any given day/week for each room type/size.

tiggerguy2000 - Next time you will know that you have to call day by day for this time as soon as MS opens for the day. That's what those of us who want that time have to do to make sure we get what we want. It's not good enough to make one call for a whole week if you want anything in early December. Glad you were able to work something out this time. I doubt you will be so lucky again.

Best wishes -

I agree with Carol, call day by day for the first week of December. It's a very popular time and if you wait until 11 months from your final checkout day, it's possible some of the early days will already be gone. I called everyday precisely at 9:00am to get my BWV boardwalk view for Dec 4 to 10 (1 BR).
