new online checkin dates???

i just saw on new website that you can checkin up to 60 days in advance????? wow thats a big change.

and i saw from another poster that FD for values is going away and only FD may be QSDP for mods and deluxes only.....signs of big changes...

This is the beginning of the FP+ system as well as the 'general reduction in discounts and special offers' that Disney has been threatening for years.

There was a time, and I remember it well, where discounts, special offers, free dining and PINs and such were very rare indeed. In fact, for many years of me going to Disney there were no discounts what so ever, they were so popular and the economy was going so well, they didn't need to discount.

We'll see how they make out with these changes.

i remember a day when the food was outstanding.And i could afford Poly for a week... then came along FD and resturants were booked 180 days out. and food quality suffered from the guareented full restuarants.

Maybe a day will come and those places will begin to impress.

There are pluses and minuses to all the changes over the yrs.

Starbucks on main street to me is NOT a plus.......My beloved bakery will be no more.

60 days seems like a huge stretch...esp with some trips not even being paid off til 45days.

per the "my disney experience" pre-arrival checklist, it lists up to 60days for online checkin....

a lot of people will be disappointed with no free dining. QSDDP is not a deal even for free IMO. For us being only 2 adults (me and adult daughter). Free dining is an almost break even at moderate of you calculate room discount and buying DDP vs free dining. It is not a deal at the deluxe resorts.

So for us, we've been going without the DDP more lately, we will still do TS, it maybe not every night. And we don't order desserts after every meal. ESP not for lunch. We may have a snack later, at a place where we like the s
Dessert choice, instead of those cake in the cup.

At dinner we may share a dessert. And since we aren't pop drinkers, we order water.

Found we can eat cheaper off the DDP. Only reason we have the DDP this trip is because the S/P & D was a Good deal for us.

Will be interesting to see how reduced discounts will affect booking. For us it would mean no more deluxe stays. And spending less on food.

Hmmm..I was wondering why the website was telling me to save time and check in online? Since that was a month before my vacation dates! Well, the website won't recognize my reservation anymore anyway, no matter how many times I Try to input it...oh well, guess we will check in when we get there...not a busy time anyway.

Website working good since last night. I even Added a split stay and added/switched some adrs.

Right now it doesn't matter. But once they roll out FP+, it will be a necessity if you want to use it. You will be able to make your FP+ reservations up to 60 days out. But you will need to be check-in online before you can make any of your FP+ reservations.
