My fiance and I just got back from our first trip to Disney together. We had the dining plan and it was awesome. We got to try so many foods that we normally wouldn't. 'Ohana came out as our favorite restuarant by far!! My fiance is a picky eater and i couldn't believe my eyes as he ate the food. I really liked the salad with honey lime dressing and the wontons were yummy. The turkey was terribly dry, but the chicken and steak were good. I was IN LOVE with the shrimp. I couldn't stop eating the little things (after I asked the waitress how to get the shell thing off :) ) The dessert was fabulous as well. I can't wait to go back!! The little entertainment for the kids was cute; I couldn't stop laughing as 20 youngsters with brooms and coconuts collided into our table around the bend. After dinner we took the walk from the Polynesian over to the Grand Floridian. Very nice quiet time - no one else was out there. We looked through the wedding pavilion windows and saw a gorgeous 5 tier wedding cake (we were jealous!) and then went to admire the Grand Floridian. It was a great night, especially with so much good food in our tummies!

My family also loves Ohana's! When we were last there the shrimp was BBQ'd and served on skewers. I know the shrimp now comes in a bowl, but are they still BBQ'd?

Im glad to hear postive things about Ohana. Ever since the menu change it seems there has been less than good things said about eating there. Its nice to hear that its yummy. We are really looking forward to eating there in 2 weeks.

JenetixK,
Thanks for that visual. I've never taken that walk and look forward to it next trip. Glad you enjoyed your dinner. :goodvibes

Glad to hear you had such a great meal at 'Ohana. The walk afterwards sounds wonderful too - I think DH and I will do that next trip. We always like finding nice, quiet places for walks at WDW. :)

I agree with a previous poster it was finally nice to hear something positve about the restuarant after the changes. We will be there in 3 weeks and I am looking forward to seeing the differences. :flower:

I just asked my fiance what he thought, and to be honest, we don't know if they were bbq'd! they still had their shells and had sort of a spicy taste; i'm not sure i'd call it a bbq flavor though. sorry i'm not much help.

Stacerita, I haven't eaten at Ohanna since the change, but it sounds better to me (and I liked it before). I think people just don't like change and it makes them cranky so they complain. I'm sure some people won't like the new Ohanna menu and some people will like it more.
