I just rode the Nemo ride this weekend. I have to say I agree that the ride is lame. I enjoy dark rides, even Pooh. IMO Pooh is a much better done attraction, even though it's mostly just cardboard cut-outs so to speak. I think the whole video effects just don't give the attraction any depth. The part with the jellyfish and the fish with the glowing thing and big teeth was really cool. But as another poster said, this is the only part that actually is three dimensional. Of course the landscape, or props, whatever you want to call it is three dimensional. But the focus is on the "video screens" and they just don't do anything for me. Also, the part where they project the Nemo characters in with the real ocean life is cool, but I just think they could have done more with it.
Some cool technology here, but overall (IMO) not a very well done attraction, it is lacking depth and story. Even DD5 wasn't impressed. And don't say "what were you expecting, Expedition Everest?"... because no, some of my favorite attractions are the classic dark rides. My expectations are a well done attraction. And I think Disney failed with this one. Who knows, maybe it'll be a hit. But I doubt it. Give it five years and I think it'll be a walk-on just like Stitch and Figment.
Also, the fact that they made the entire pavilion Nemo just does not make sense to me. I mean, maybe it would make sense if every Future World pavilion was themed after a different animated feature. But not the case here. I do like Turtle Talk with Crush, just one small attaction within a pavilion... but I don't understand why they made the entire pavilion Nemo.
On a related note, I thought the "Mine, mine, mine" seagull animitronics were well done and funny. You can hear them all the way across FW though... maybe a little loud.
