New. Need help canceling >30 days but after banking window.

I have a DVC stay starting the Sunday after Thanksgiving. My UY is October, so if I cancel the reservation or a few days I believe I'm past my banking window. I won't know the price of airfare until June, but plan it will be pricey. My understanding, if I cancel the points will go back into the current UY, but I'll have to use them by the end of September 2022. Is that correct? They can't be banked.

The banking deadline for an October UY is May 31. You are currently in your 2021 UY.

However, if your reservation is for the Sunday after Thanksgiving, that would be during your 2022 UY. If you cancel in June, those points from a Nov/Dec 2022 reservation go back into your 2022 UY and you will have until May 31, 2023 to bank the points or until September 30, 2023 to use the if they are not banked.

As mentioned, anything used in the November trip, are already in your 2022 UY, so you have plenty of time if you have to adjust that trip. Just make sure that you did indeed bank the 2021 UY points before you made that reservation. If you see it telling you that there are points to still bank, then you did not and should do that before the end of the month.

You can then have those banked points put into the reservation.

Thanks for the help. Yes, I am using 2022 UY points for this reservation. If I think it through at a slower pace, it makes sense. May 2023 is my banking date. We are in May and don't want to lose points. It's my first go round.
