New Musical Entertainment at WDW this summer!

If you're going to WDW this summer, be aware that there will be a new musical band (about 20 performers). I think they'll be located in the MK, beginning the middle of June, going until the middle of August. With all the entertainment cutbacks, it's nice to see Disney ADDING entertainment occassionally (even though it is only temporary). They're the Disney All-American Collegiate Band, about 20 performers chosen from very selective auditions throughout the United States. I don't know any of these performers personally, but I know one who got selected for the Disneyland location (there are 2 bands-one at each coast), and believe me, I know they'd be thrilled if you'd go to one of their performances (I think they'll be performing at the Flag Retreat Ceremony). Nice to see music at the MK, especially now when we no longer have the Main Street Band!

I know this group was around last year because we watched them perform by Space Mountain. They were very entertaining and so talented.

Just as an FYI ... Disney has been presenting the Disney All-American College Band, in one form or another, since about 1980. There also used to be a College Orchestra that performed at Epcot, but that ended a few years ago.

Yes, we saw them at MK over the summer. Does anyone know if they will have a summer series of college kids this summer? The one they had a couple of years ago was awesome. I can't remember the name they used. But the tuba player lip syncing to Queen was hiliarious.

Yes, they are going to have the summer series of college kids (I know because DS auditioned for it!). I think they're called Disney's All-American College Band. I know at Disneyland they do a patriotic performance at the Flag Retreat, so I assume they do here too.
Yes, I also miss Future Corps. Those guys were fantastic performers. I'm so glad I got their CD, so at least I can listen to that. I still don't understand why they were let go.

"Blast" actually was a different group - a brass group that was excellent (they have performed on Broadway).

The college orchestra was great as well - I caught them with Jodi Benson a few years back. I also miss the Tuba-Fours who used to perform at the Studios in the 90's.

But the best was Future Corps. I know some of the guys are still in the area; I wish they'd get them back together.
