New music

I've been getting into a lot of symphonic metal lately:

Nightwish
Within Temptation

DH has a lot of their music and concerts on DVD. I enjoy them too but not most favorite.

I just heard a song that I really like, don't know how old it is - Goodbye my almost lover by A Fine Frenzy - will have to check out the rest of the CD. I like Adele, Black Eyed Peas, love my Disco songs (Donna Summers, Bee Gees), but also have Phantom of the Opera on my iPod - I also like latin music - good salsa - like Celia Cruz. Only thing I DON'T like is country music - just don't even want to try to listen to that. ;)

All I have on my ipod is Disney, disco, and Phantom of the Opera!

My first love is 80's rock and then Disco. I was a teen in the 80's and just never really wanted to leave it. :confused3
Pat Benatar
Styx
Journey
REO Speedwagon
and so much more!

They just don't make it like that anymore. :cool1:

And then I like Disco because it is so happy and upbeat and positive and fun. I was a little too young to appreciate it when it first came out, but now I love it.

I've been getting into a lot of symphonic metal lately:

Nightwish
Within Temptation
Delain

Awesome :worship: :worship::worship::worship::worship:

I listen to the above as well as all other genres and sub-genres Metal....the above would be of the Female Fronted Symphonic Metal variety which I am obsessed with here are a few more:

Epica \ Leaves' Eye \ Krypteria \ After Forver \ Edenbridge \ Visions of Atlantis \ Lacuna Coil

Besides those my favorite genres/sub-genres are Power Metal, Thrash, Death Metal, Black Metal, Battle Metal, Viking Metal,Symphonic Metal, Prog Metal, Goth Metal, Meldoic Death Metal, Goove Metal, Technical Death Metal, Southern Metal, Stoner Metal, Doom, Gloom, Glam Metal, NWOBHM and of course straight up Heavy Metal

Some awesome tunes I have been blasting today:

Wishmaster (Nightwish cover) by Van Canto (A Capella Metal)
Jerusalem by Bruce Dickinson (Heavy Metal)
Another Angel Down by Avantasia (Power Metal)
Oblivion by Mastodon (Progressive Groove Metal)
Ghosts Along the Mississippi by Down (Southern Metal)
Twilight of the Thunder God by Amon Amarth (Melodic Death Metal)

I'm really into heavy metal, Mahler, Bruckner, Brahms, and later Beethoven. And John ("I made a ton of money recycling romantic classics for George Lucas movies") Williams.

:thumbsup2

I'm not so big into Bruckner and Mahler, but I make up for it with the rest! I'm also a fan of Wagner, Scarlatti, and Solieri. I love nearly all early music (ex: Medieval Baebes, Waverley Consort, Pifaro, etc.), and I have a weakness for bagpipes that probably explains my absolute love for Corvus Corax.

Lessee... Then there's... I'd better quit before I overflow my character limit! So much good music out there.

My latest discovery is Example. If you have BBC America, watch the Graham Norton Show - his musical guests are awesome!

Gossip
Jessie J.
Imelda May

Some of the older stuff that gets heavy play when I'm training includes:
Powerman 5000
Lo Fidelity AllStars
House of Pain ("Jump" is my power song)
Daddy Yankee
Pitbull
Eminem

And a real oldie that recalls my college days: You Dropped a Bomb on Me by the Gap Band. Classic!

Of course, you can never go wrong with Prince.

Ive always wandered what kinda music do Disney fans listen to (other than Disney music). What Bands has everyone been into lately? For me its been the new Foo Fighters CD and The Amity Affliction. Love to hear everyone's answers

:cool2:I mean Classic ROCK!!!

Robin "D" :thumbsup2

Lately I have been getting an education in Hip Pop (DD's word- is that really a genre??). My almost 13 year old DD has just been getting into her own kind of music in the past year, and she really likes all the Top 40, poppy, hip hoppy stuff like:

Maroon 5
Pitbull
LMFAO
Jessie J
Katy Perry
Blackeyed Peas
Keri Hilson
P!nk
Nikki Minaj
Ke$ha
B.o.b.

My own tastes are more old-school:

'80's New Wave/Pop
Glee soundtrack stuff
Disney music
Jimmy Buffett
classical and film scores like Alice in Wonderland (2010) and Harry Potter

I'm a bit of a music nerd. (Actually it's part of my job, so I get no merit!)

On heavy rotation on my IPOD right now:

WASHED OUT - within and without
JAY Z & KANYE WEST - watch the throne
BEIRUT - the riptide
FLEET FOXES - helplessness blues
KID CUDI - man on the moon 2
BON IVER - bon iver
THE KILLS - blood pressures
FLORENCE & THE MACHINE - lungs
MAJOR LAZER - guns dont kill people
THE BLACK KEYS - brothers

And about a zillion more!

I love listening to older music

The Clash
Def Leppard
The Cars
Beastie Boys
Fleetwood Mac.

I'm all over.

The newest music that I have is from "Glee". Love the music. Hit and miss on the show. Basically remakes

Ok, That was amazing! Thank you! Somehow I didn't know they sang that. That song is a perfect fit for them!

Glad that you enjoyed it!!! I love Nightwish, especially with their original vocalist Tarja Turunen... Opera vocals + Metal = Epic :goodvibes

I also love the Nightwish song "FantasMic" which is a tribute to Disney animation :)

Lyric excerpt:
"A cub of the king betrayed by usurper, A girl in the rain swearing to her father`s name, Belle the last sight for the dying gruesome, The beauties sleeping awaiting, Deep in a dream, For true love`s first kiss"

A fan made a really cool video, again if you want to check it out here is the link :) The person who did this did an amazing job....

My favourite bands would be Queens Of The Stone Age, Smashing Pumpkins, Eagles Of Death Metal, Foo Fighters, The Doors, Brian Setzer. Stuff like that. I also like alot of Punk bands. Anything rocking is good for me!
