New Moneycard-HELP!!!

Please could anyone help me out with advice etc on the Moneycard Visa/American Express which seems to be taking over from travellers cheques?

Has anyone used one of these and how did you get on using it in Orlando?

How do you keep track of how much you have spent on it?

Are there any problems with it?

We are trying to decide whether to take all currency or currency and this card.

i had one of these last sept. i found it useless! i could use it in atms, though no shops in wdw would accept. i binned the card when i got home as it had no credit. i did receive a letter this week though from amex advising the card would be scrapped in oct, and i would get a cheque if there is a balance on the acc after this date. stick with the travellers cheques. i find marks and spencers tends to offer a good rate.

We got our letters from AMEX today letting us know they were discontinuing them.

Just get a Nationwide credit card, you usually get between 5-10 cents to the £ more than taking cash and its safer.
Today I got almost $2.03 with Nationwide. Post office is offering only about $1.93 in UK. Not always best option, like if you think £ is going to crash but its usually the best way to go.

Oh Sue, you had only just reloaded yours, hadn't you? I read somewhere that you should get the money refunded at the same rate as you last loaded it, if that is any help (probably not much consolation though, right)

I was thinking maybe pre-paying DVC annual dues but have already prepaid half of it already. I also have travellers cheques from about 5 years ago that I wanted to get rid of first as well as loads of cash. We are not going back to US for three years but I guess we should not moan as we are at least going next week and I am going to spend spend spend on that amex card!!

What happens when you run out? Do they let you know and you can pay the rest with cash etc??

I seem to have too many dollars which I should not really moan about but I badly need euros now to pay off our place in Spain!

we are hoping to go to Raglan Road the first night for a drink on 17th. I think the Stringers etc are there. See you there or otherwise the bar at the turf club or otherwise the bars round the pool!!!

Agree with "Nationwide Card" I did this last year and rate of exchange was excellent v cash exchange rates and card was widely accpeted - even for a few dollars. It's also commision free at present.
