New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

I am totally on the fence about this. I don't know all the details to know if 149 dollars is worth* it. It very well could be*, but without knowing what is included and how it would impact park hours. Also if this is a midnight closing and get to stay to 3am deal, or a 8pm closing and stay to 11pm deal would greatly change my perspective. Since the former would be attractive to me since there wouldn't be anything else to do at Disney during those hours, but the later would not because there are a lot of other things to do and it would negative impact other guests.

*Based on Disney's inflated scene of worth, since nothing on Disney property is worth the pricetag without the Disney name attached. Can we all just admit we are Disney brand-whores. Disney is to us what Louis Vuitton is to Kevin.

It's been a long day...sorry for a question that must have been answered already - couldn't find it: is this an official Disney announcement or rumor at this point?

I'd only go if there were NO strollers or small children. As in restricted to ages 21 and over. And even then $150 is too high. Maybe $100.

I would consider it if it was 21 and over only and had some other perks besides just seeming like EMH you pay for, but the price is definitely too steep.

Those of you who have dealt with similar events in the past - is Disney likely to "clear the park" at closing? Unfortunately, May 19th is my last day in Disney and is my MK day. Part of my tour strategy was to hit 7DMT near closing under the theory that as long as I'm in line before closing, I'm good to go. This might mess with that?

Also, I wonder what, if any, effect this will have on crowd levels overall. I can't imagine too much, as I can't imagine that many people will do this. But I could be wrong...

If ya think about it though people will pay for it. Remember villians soiree making halloween party be about $200 where people bought it without even KNOWING what it was? Or the premium food and wine for $200 that came with no details at release? People will pay for anything!
Yup. We took a gamble on this as part of a Halloween trip, and it was TOTALLY worth it to us -- LOVED IT!! :)

That said, we had some info on what was to be included. I'd need to know more about this one for $150 pp...

YOu know, I was just talking to my husband about this, and he made an interesting point.... He said to me, "well, think about how many people pay what, $50 to eat a couple cupcakes and sit on tomorrowland terrace to watch Wishes. $150 to ride the rides in an almost empty park for 3 hours seems like a bargain compared to that." I think he has a valid point

DVC members were able to enter the park 2 1/2 hours before their party began at 9:30p. The party area consisted of Tomorrowland and Fantasyland and regular day guests were cleared from those areas at park closing.

Sadly he's right. We loved the wishes dessert party at its original price (something like $28pp, if I recall correctly). It was absolutely worth that. $99, though? Nope. Not worth that. We had 9 people in our group when we did the wishes party with the original pricing. For the $900 that would cost now, we'd do something like an illuminations cruise or wishes cruise. No way is that wishes party worth the $900 it would cost for that group.

I double checked and I believe the price is actually $50 not $100, but still.

That's I why I think people will pay it, or at least one of the reasons. I also think people will pay it so they can say they were part of this very exclusive event. Not just on this thread, and not just on the Dis, there are already people saying they want to go and there really aren't that many details out yet.

I really hope this isn't the begining of no EMHs or even worse, paid EMHs. Boooooo.

the party was nice, but not anywhere near $99pp nice.
I agree. We did it twice at the original price, but doubling the price was bad show in our opinion. However, it still sells out every night. :confused3

Yes, that is correct, and as you said, 'but still'.

Wondering if the people that would do this would not go to the MK during the regular park hours on that day and choose to go to this instead. If so then hoping this may decrease the amount of people that will be there during the regular park hours as one of these days is our MK day. Too late to change since we have ADR's and FP set so hoping this will be the case
