New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

Sorry if this has already been asked, but does anyone know if this $149 is going into effect right after the "trial" dates? I arrive May 22 and have planned to take advantage of several EMH days as we are staying onsite. Should I expect to have to pay another $150 a night on top of everything else?

We have always drank the Disney Kool-Aid with multiple onsite stays, we spend over 40 nights a year onsite. We have seen many changes and accepted them, but, this move from Disney leaves a sour taste in my mouth. There is NO way that we will be paying for this insane greedy move, hope is a bust. It's insane to pay $149 for 3 hours at MK.

I really think a lot more than reported is/was planned for that price tag.

I don't think we should assume it's nothing more than three extra hours at MK. I'm betting it's absolutely magical. If it seriously were to be a park full of characters wandering freely I'd add an extra night to our trip for it.

Have they actually moved the closing times up in the past?

People will have ADRs and stuff booked. I don't see how they can really change the close time to earlier.

Disney has in the past called and cancelled ADRs. They certainly could change hours & cancel plans. Would they tick people off? Of course. But they could do it.

I don't care if characters roam the park farting pixie dust, they thaw out Walt to greet guests personally by name at the end of Small World and Bob Iger is giving massages to every guest in the dream suite...

NO. FREAKING. WAY.

I would pay Bob Iger to give me a massage. :jester::jester::jester::jester:

Someone asked how resort capacity looks those dates? The weekend of April 15 is the Darkside Challenge and Dapper Days. Should be fairly crowded.

Then don't go? Lol

I'd definitely want more criteria than just people in costumes but look at the price of Club Villain people flock to with no rides and 4 (5?) Characters. ..

The kind of massage he's been giving lately

I think Club Villain is out of line price-wise too. No way to that too. LOL

If this has 0 effect on park hours etc as they are now--as in it doesn't take away from anyone's experiences, doesn't hint at the end of EMH, and includes tons of frikken awesome perks in a comparatively empty park, I think this is a great idea. :duck:

I wouldn't/couldn't pay that price either, but I'd stay offsite and cut costs in other areas if the details of this sounded worth it.

I'm first in line to book when they make an official announcement. May 12 is my husband's birthday and this would be epic.
