New MK Paid Disney After Hours Event Announced

Admittedly I haven't been keeping up on the ROL and how late AK may, or may not, be open so this might be way off ... on an evening that the MK is only open to guests who have paid for this special event, day guests may be looking for evening entertainment. So many times I've read that AK is a 1/2 day park, this might push more people there for AK evening events. Or, Disney Springs.

Either way, it's a win for Disney. Increased revenue from the MK after hours event at $150 per person, the park hopper option, ROL Dining Package, or guests might opt to visit Disney Springs and spend money on shopping and dining there.

Unless of course the MK hours are into the late evening / early morning, in which case, most guests would be headed back to their room(s). If that's the case, just never mind my post. :)

Disney news now says the rumour is true. "Disney after Hours" event planned for April 14, 21 and 28, and May 5, 8, 12 and 19. It is $149.00 (plus tax) per person and it is for 3 hours after the park closes. This sounds crazy to me!!! It would cost $750.00 for a family of 5 to go to Mk for 3 hours!!!!

If you're staying on Disney property for EMH, then you're staying for the wrong reasons IMO. I rarely even use those hours. I will stay to be in the disney magic 24 hours a day.

OK, well there are lots of us who stay there for the perks, and EMH is a big one we take advantage of frequently. This notion of Disney magic is a crock, IMO.

Well I for one hope this thing is a big fat bust for Disney, and that they've pushed too far this time.

But unclear when we get to that date what "after hours" may be, or at least it didn't specify here. Currently on April 12th and 21st, park closes at 11pm, and on the 28th it's 10pm, but it seems that these times often change, even late in the game... I'm hoping the hours don't change when we're there on the 21st...

If it is a Limited number of tickets per night, and a reasonably low number of true LIMITED tickets available and they make everyone leave the park prior to the start of the event like they used to do for the EE events , we would do this in a heart beat.

I would 100% pay $300 for my husband and I to go to the MK for 3 hours in an uncrowded park, during late hours where there are unlikely to be small children and too many strollers. Would be worth every cent.

Got to agree with both of you. We have done several of the tours that have cost us more. I could see doing this once IF the tickets were limited & the park was actually cleared out.

At this point I'm thoroughly convinced that Disney has an internal contest to see who can come up with the dumbest ways to generate revenue.

Next we will be swiping our magic bands and entering our PIN to use the toilet.

HUSH your mouth, from someone old enough to remember when you had to carry coins in order to get into a bathroom stall! Don't give them ideas.

Interesting if this is true. The high price would make me think the number of tickets are very limited so the 3-hour time period would be a unique experience. It would likely be limited by the market demand at that price but Disney would need to make sure the number of guests is low.

We did the E-ride nights a few times. The 1st time we did it the ride waits were short and the crowds low; the last time we did it, we decided never again because it was crowded. I read posts stating the number of guests were limited to 5,000 but I don't know this to be a fact. Based on our experience, there were way more than 5,000 guests in the MK.

MK is open until 11pm on 4/14. So this after hours thing is from 11pm-2am? Or will they close the park early? This makes no sense.

There's also a MSEP scheduled right at 11 as part of the hours extension to 11pm (same for the 21st).

I've done EMH at those times numerous nights so I would imagine it would be like that.

Does anyone have knowledge of what the onsite hotel bookings are like during this time frame?

I don't see them executing this very well (as in..... clearing out the day guests in a timely fashion that would make $150 for 3 hours worthwhile). Think about how poorly things went at those Villains parties.

Have they actually moved the closing times up in the past?

People will have ADRs and stuff booked. I don't see how they can really change the close time to earlier.

Like everything else it starts low so people talk about how great it is then 3000 become 30000. The holiday parties used to be limited to a point that you could watch the parades in places that weren't even 2 deep but that's changed significantly.
