New Minimum Add-on for AKV?

Hi folks-I had a curious conversation with my guide today. I called to inquire about an add-on to AKV in the range of 35 points. She initially tried to encourage SSR because of the $8 off incentive but I told her the 11 month booking window was more important to us than the incentive. She told me that unfortunately I could not do that and my only option was SSR for that point figure. I tried to clarify it about 3 different ways and I was bowled over to say the least. She told me the minimum add-on at AKV was 100 points!! I have to say I was quite taken aback and had the sinking feeling that my guide was being less than forthcoming with me-a little paranoia probably on my part but I know how much they are really pushing SSR. I see 3 scenarios here-1. DVC has just done an abrupt revision of their AKV add-on minimums; :headache: 2. My guide is uninformed  or 3. My guide is trying to lead me down the path to and SSR add-on and being less than truthful. Have any of you tried an add-on in the last couple of days? I am anxious to hear your reports and want some more information before I call her back.

I was under the impression that you needed to purchase 100 points at AKV to receive any kind if incentive (developers points or $$$ off), but you could purchase less.

I think you may have missunderstood your guide. You can add on any number of points, but you do not get a price incentive unless you purchase at least 100 points. The "deal" for those of us adding on in February, is that the price is $101 per point UNLESS you are buying 100 or more...In that case, you can get either $8/PP off the $101 OR you can get developer's points to be used this year.

I added on $69 AKV points without any issues at all. I had to pay $101/point, but if you wait until March, you will pay $104/point.

Thanks to all of you for posting. Diane-it's funny that you wrote-I actually tried to PM you because I remember your specific post about a 69 point add-on! The thing that I don't get is I tried 3 different ways to clarify this with my guide. I told her specifically that I realized I could not get the incentive; I just want my add-on!!!!! She finished by saying "I'm sorry there is nothing more I can do to get you into AKV. If you decide on 100 points, give me a call and I will be happy to help." I hung up very confused:confused3 . Tomorrow is a new day and I'll try again! By the way, I told her I would be at SSR and BWV starting this Sunday and she said the models of AKV were "quite a way from being ready" and that no floorplans are available as of yet. I'm going to go spend a morning at AKL just to soak up the ambience:cloud9:

I read this post out of interest but then noticed you two Minnesotans and wanted to say hello! I am originally from MN but now live in FL. I graduated HS in Hastings and went to the U of M...

I miss MN a lot - mostly places rather than people because we get a lot of visitors down here (especially when it's warm here and cold there).

Anyway, couldn't resist - nice to meet you!

My guide told me the same thing initially, but I persisted.
I told her it was 100 pts for discount, but we just wanted 50 pts without hte discount. We justed signed the contract for 50 pts, so I know it can be done. However, I felt that she did not know very much about AKV at that point. Good luck- be polite but firm!

Maybe you two have the same guide and she isn't too well informed! There are quite a few of us on here who are buying in at fewer than 100 points.

I have a call in to my guide and will let you know what she says. On the message I told her we were interested in 50-100 points but I think we will want to go on the smaller side. Sure hope your guide was just misinformed and you get it all worked out.:)

I am adding on today.
as per my guide
you can add 25 ponits at either resort they $101
if you buy at SS you get a $10 discount if you buy 50 or more. You get this years points and the points when your use year starts at any amount--if your use year is August you will get the amont of points you purchase lets say 50 which you can bank and on August 1st you will get another 50 so you will have 100 to use after but you pay the Maint. dues prorated to the date you buy so if you buy March 03 (the last day at 101) you will be billed for the dues from Mar 03 through Dec 31 2007.
AKV if you buy 100 points or more you get an $8 discount and you will not start paying your dues untill the resort opens in September or October? you get builders points exactly how they work and the minimum I am not sure of but form the impression I got it is only with 100 points or above and i could be wrong because as others have said they are pushing or mor knowledgable? about SS
I just called my guide an dshe should return my call shortly and i will ask her to caliify the builders points if anyone wnats teh exact info.
I am buying SS most likely as i want the extra 50 points that i can bank. I go on the off times and i am know taking a lot of family that i never intended on whan i first bought my contract. how close we have become since i have DVC i however enjoy having them.

The AKV Developer's Points are there for you to use by September, they are not allowed to be banked... In addition, those points are ONLY availalbe if you do not take the $8/point deal.

Signing and sending my 35 point contract at AKV today!!!

(It is possible! If your guide gives you a hard time, just tell her to ask Kelly Jo.)

Another confirmation that you can buy less than 100 points. I talked to my guide today. She said Feb and Aug use years were getting low for 2007 points. We have an April use year. I am hoping to add 50 or 60 ponts.

My guide told me they are extending the $101 for members til June, but it will be increased to $104 for new buyers in March. Also, she said we can add on as little as 25 points to any DVC resort including AKV.

I am going to wait til after our HH stay this April to decide about my add on. My fav non DVC resort has always been AKV, and when it was announced that they are making it a DVC location I wanted to jump right in......but then i started to think about it alittle more. The only real reason we'd love it is because of the savannah, but we dont spend alot of time hanging at the resort and aren't crazy about its location, so I restrained myself once again and we will wait and see how we like HH.
