We just got back from the 4/23 Western and I don't know if it has been mentioned or not but they had new menus. We were really dissappointed in them :( Our servers (Prudence and Elisa...who were awesome!) told us they are trying them out for the 14 day and West Coast cruises. They did not have individual menus in each restaurant the first 3 nights like they used to. All the restaurants had the same menu. My parents had been seriously considering the 14 day return trip and decided not to go because they didn't like the food. (They had put a deposit down on the ship and were ready to go)

Anyone else back and dissappointed in them??

that's a bummer to take away the indiviuality of each restuarant. :sad2:
I thought that was the purpose of rotating in the first place? So you can
have different food selections each night.

I dont blame you for being dissapointed, I know I would be too.

That doesn't sound good. I was looking forward to my first cruise with a great dining experience every night.

Can you post some of the items from the new menus?

If at all possible, even from memory, can you please post information about the new menus?

We're on the 14 day in a few days and would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

ummm- i'm on 5/7/05 cruise- i would love to know what was on the menu's too
TIA :flower1:

These new menus may not be intended for the traditional sailings of the Magic. Since the line has two 14-night cruises coming up they're probably just intended to be the additional menus for those cruises and probably won't replace the current menus on the ship.

I also think that they may have just been testing the menus to gage guest reaction. I don't think DCL will give up having unique menus for each rotational restaurant on the non-theme nights.

We were on the April 23rd cruise also - our first cruise. We were a little disappointed with the new menus also. I will try to post some of the items. (Our head server had them copied for us at my request). Now, let me see, where did I pack/unpack those menus....?

I really hope this isnt the case for long! :sad2: :sad2:

I want the variety. They have separate galleys - gosh - what's the problem!?

I think you're right. That was my immediate reaction - that they're testing new menus out for us (but isn't that what the practice cruise is for ;) ?)

We are on the first 14 night..would love to see what they have been feeding you guys also. Hope you can find the menus..lol.

Thanks!

Ok Colonial traveler find those menu's :)

What was the problem with the food?
Too fancy?

Too plain?

Yucky tasting??

We need more detail...........

THAT'S JUST GREAT (sarcastic). I'm on the cruise leaving Saturday and it's bad enough that we are down 1 show because the x'd Hercules and the new show isn't starting until the following week. How about they mess with our food now!!!!!
Menus, I need menus!

That stinks that we are down a show. I thought it would be replaced. I'm really hoping that I'll still like the menus - otherwise :(

I don't remember the exact menus.....that's how much we liked them LOL I didn't like them because it was very difficult to pick something. Usually I had a hard time picking something because there were a few different things I wanted, this time I couldn't even find 1 thing I wanted the first few nights. I remember there were about 2-3 seafood entrees every night (I don't eat much seafood) lamb & veal which I don't eat either. I think I had beef almost every night, just in different forms, and chicken. Even my father, who usually orders 2 entrees or seconds, ordered the sirloin from the lighter fare menu many nights.

The desserts were great but DH is a chocolate lover and they didn't have something really chocolately for him most nights. He was also dissappointed they took away the escargot....the rest of us were happy about that LOL

Looking at my Navigators, the theme menus were:

Saturday: Let The Magic Begin
Sunday: It's A Small World
Monday: Golden Mickey's Dining Menu
Tuesday: Tropicali
Wednesday: Pirates In the Caribbean
Thursday: Captain's Gala
Friday: Best of.....

They last 3 menus were fine and the same you can see on the site that list the menus ;) It was the first 4 we had a problem with. I realize 2 of them were the same as old menus, with a few differences.

BTW we were not the only ones complaining about it. We overheard and participated in quite a few conversations about it. The Head Server even came over on Tuesday night to a few tables to tell us we could special order anything we wanted, as long as we gave them advanced notice. She also showed us the menus for the next nights so we could decide whether we wanted to order something special or from the menu.

Please remember, this is just mine and my family's opinions! I'm sure there were people that enjoyed the new menus, it just wasn't enjoyable for us.

I hope you don't have the Bumblesquats!! They were terrible according to DH and DS. (I skipped this one since I read the reviews here!)

We really need details on the menus....
But somehow I am confused. I have been on both the Magic and the Wonder and both times each restaurant had the same menu each night.

Hi! We were on the 4/16 Magic and we were "guinea pigs" for the Tropicali and Best of... menus. Our server told us we were the first group to try those 2 out. The Tropicali was OK and the Best of... had no "best of" from the other menus. We did not have the other menus that were previously listed by the other post. We had the "old" meuns and food.

The Tropicali had too many - for our taste - fruity tasting recipes. The Best of... was OK. The Chefs were out on the floor for each of those nights. They were mingling and getting feedback.

As for the entertainment - well.......... I have seen better dancing at my DD14 Dance Recital! The dancers were not up to Disney standards - in our opinion - even my DH noticed. We think that the "A" team is practicing for the 14 day cruise. The Bumblesquats were HORRIBLE - I almost walked out - there was no rhyme or reason for the "reunion".

I know they are planning and tweaking menus and entertainment for the 14 day cruise. If it were my first Disney Cruise - I woul not have been "Wowe'd" by the food or entertainment. We know they can do better but they didn't have their best foot forward - IMHO - :goodvibes

Of, course we rebooked and will be going on our 11th cruise in 2006!!!

:confused3 I am confused........are the Bumblesqwats some sort of new insect entree on one of the new menus? :confused3
I just keep reading how aweful they are? :sad2: What's in them, anyway?

:rotfl2: That cracked me up! I don't know what they are, but they are some kind of entertainment. Sounds like an awful food though! :rotfl2:
