I am so excited! We recently became DVC members and our home resort is AKV. I have some questions and I know this is where I can find my answers We booked AKV-Jambo studio with Savannah view in December. We bought into our resort sight unseen and now I am a little worried. I have read some negative feedback that causes concerns, but through many Disney vacations (at least one a year for the past 13 years, plus childhood visits) and many Disney cruises (7 of them) I have not really had one complaint. Am I going to be disappointed with AKV? I have a 17 year old and a 7 year old and thought this would be the best resort for them.
Is there anything that I should bring to make our stay more enjoyable? Any input would be greatly appreciated and I am happy to now be a part of your family

AKL is awesome. It is the most requested resort from the big renters. You will be very happy so don't worry.

Congrats and welcome home! AKV is one of our home resorts (we own 6 contracts at 5 different resorts). We LOVE AKV both Jambo and Kidani. I've stayed at AKV probably a dozen times - including twice already this year and I'm checking in again on Thursday. It's a great resort. You will love it! Take a look online for some YouTube videos (there are tons) and photos of the resort (especially the ones with the lodge all decorated for the holidays). I'm sure you will have a great trip! Enjoy!

We are owners at AKV-Kidani and are here right now enjoying ourselves! This is our family's favourite resort, lots to do but also very relaxing. I don't think you will be disappointed.

We do not own here but did stay here and we absolutely loved it. My son requested AK Kidani when he recently went in May.

YAY! Thank you all for your replies! We have been considering DVC for some time but finally took the plunge while on our last cruise. I found some pictures and a review on the Planning board and I am now really excited. I think I am going to love everything all decorated for Christmas too! I hope the weather will be nice enough to enjoy the pool...but if not then I guess we will just have to plan another trip

We own at AKV too and LOVE it!

One of the things I like best is the ability to choose from 4 categories for DVC stays. We have tried everything from value to club level and each is so unique and wonderful.

I don't think you'll have any regrets at all.

We bought a small contract back in 2010 and our first trip was to AKV. We LOVED it. You will not be disappointed.

Dh and I love AKV. We own at both BCV and AKV, BCV used to be dh's favorite. In fact he kept insisting it still was ...until we stayed a week at Kidani then moved to BCV, he walked into BCV and said "I wish we were still at Kidani".

Really, everyone has their favorites and I really hope you enjoy being AKV owners.

Enjoy every aspect. Planning for a trip is almost as much fun as taking the trip. AKV is one of our home resorts, too. Love the opportunity for Club level rooms. Before you know it, you'll be stepping through those massive doors and looking with bewilderment and awe at the magnificent lobby.....

We live AKV! It is our DVC home resort. We have stayed twice once in a studio summer trip & then

In December for a Christmas trip. It is lovely & we loved the animals in December they were very active.

Zebras & Wildabeast antics were hilarious. We think the wildabeast are grumpy animals!!

Our home resort if AKV! We stayed there this past December and had an absolute blast!! The resort is just beautiful, restaurants are fabulous, staff is super friendly, and the pool area is fantastic for kids (not to mention the pool bar for the adults is pretty fantastic as well)! The only complaint I had.. was that when taking the disney buses it took forever to get anywhere because AKV is so far away from it all. But this is only because I had a 14 month old who got sick of sitting on the bus, otherwise I would've had no problem what so ever!! With your children being older, I think you will have an excellent time!! I'm jealous!!! Have fun

AKL is a wonderful resort. Remember that you can use both pools. Your children, even the 17 yr old, may really enjoy the splash area over at Kidani. Check out the night vision goggles, and if you can eat at Boma, or at least get some Zebra Domes from Mara, the counter service. I love the steam room in the work out room. And then the CMs are great in the community hall in Kidani and also at Jambo. I've made coasters and DH made a ceramic mug at Jambo on a trip when I couldn't walk a lot.

Oh, and when buses drop you off, there is a door before the gift shop entrance that you can use your key card and take the elevator up to the fifth floor, saving a few steps.

Welcome Home!

We recently stayed at AKV at Kidani and had a fantastic time! My little one loved the water play area, which is enormous, and the awesome view of animals from our balcony!

I will say though that our room requests were ignored at first (in every way), and we were stuck with a "Savanna" view of the Pembe Savanna. There are quite literally about two animals out there, and the walk from the lobby was very long. Luckily an ideal room was open the next day that fit every request, which turned everything around! Close to lobby, Sunset Savanna, 2nd floor!

Now I am really excited I can't wait for our trip and I really appreciate everyone putting me at ease with our purchase. DVC just makes so much sense to me since I love our Disney vacations. December is too far off!!!
