New Member with question!!

So as of today, we are officially members of DVC with 150 points at WL (through re-sale). I have been a lurker for about ½ year on this board now since we started the process and I’m proud to official be a member!!

My first question; Our names will go into the system in about 10 days, then we can start making reservations!! I know we will probably have to stay at SSR for our first stay, but what is the availability in October usually like?

PS - how do you add a picture in your name title?

If you can make reservations at the 11 month mark, you won't have a problem getting what you want at the VWL.

In general for October at the 7 month mark -

* there is a lot of competiton for any remaining space at the BCV and BWV (EPCOT FOod & WIne Festival is popular). Many members call day by day to secure a reservation.

* VWL (because it's small) also goes fairly quickly, followed by OKW (lower points than SSR) and then SSR (because it is so large relative to the others).

* Don't really have enough experience with AKV to make even a generalization sicne it's so new and isn't even half completed.

I assume you are really asking about October 2008, though. It could be tough to get anything for that month since it's only 4 months away. But you never know until you try and many waitlists do come through. Good luck!

We too just got our points and needed a reservation for Oct. I called yesterday HOPING to find a 2 bdrm ANYWHERE and got one at SSR - no waitlisting or anything. This was for the 19-24th. Other weeks may be more crowded.

October should be problem with SSR! Just in case: If you don't get what you want right away, don't be afraid to waitlist. The last time I waitlisted for a 4-month window in October (for OKW) I got my waitlist through within a week.

As for signatures and avatars, click on "User CP" at the top left of the message board. You will be able to figure it out from there.

Keep in mind that this is just your first trip, and all future plans will be much easier if you can plan further out.

For this trip, I'd call as soon as you're in the system and ask for what you really want. You may be pleasantly surprised. If you can't get your first choice, then ask what (if anything) is available. And there's always waitlist, although you should go to school on that to be sure you understand the process.

We've had good luck getting what we wanted 4-5 months out during non-peak periods (early Nov and May), and one of my daughters has even gotten NYE at SSR <3 months out the last two years by waitlisting! You just never know.
