We just bought into DVC Feb 1st. Our deed will be recorded by March 1st. We were able to get a use year back to Sept. My question is can we make ressies with our points before deed is recorded? Our home resort is VB and we want to go there Next January. Do we have to wait until march to make home resort ressies? Thanx for the info.

As long as you do not need to bank or borrow points they will let you reserve as soon as you return the written contracts. However, for next Jan, you would need to bank the points you just got which go from Sep 2001 to Aug 2002. Thus, you cannot use those until after closing. You could reserve with points that will be issued Sep 2002 and then replace those points later with banked points.

Note something that is very important. If you are not planning a trip before Aug 31 of this year, then you need to call your guide and make sure that DVD knows that you want to bank any current points you just bought as part of your closing. You may have filled out a form with your contracts to do that but if you did not, make sure it is done. If you don't do that you will pass your banking deadline (Feb 28, 2002) for banking all points by the time you close.

Great advice. I did this last year....told my guide that I wanted to bank. Then I called MS and confirmed that a day later and got the banking confirmation number for my files. I strongly suggest getting the confirmation number any time you do a transaction with MS, but especially for banking and borrowing since they don't send you a confirming notice.
