Hello,

I am wondering how easy it is to rent a property through the rent/trade site. I am all new to this an want to make sure that I don't miss something that I should be doing in order to get a reservation. How do I figure out how many points I need? Can I reply to more than one person? It is very strict and I don't want to do anything wrong so my reservation request is not missed.

Thank you,

There are 4 "Sticky" threads at the top of the rent forum page. Since you are new, you could probably skip the first one, but read as much of the others as you can to get a feel for both sides, and what's involved.

To learn how many points you need, click on the DVC Point chart heading in the white part of the border at the top of the page.

Welcome to the Disboards!

If the stickey notes don't completely clear things up, just ask any questions on this forum. There are many helpful people in here that would love to help answer you questions.

When you say you are a new member, do you mean a new member to the DIS or a new DVC member? I think you mean you are new to the DIS and not a DVC member.

I am a new member to dis board. Also, this is my first time going to disney in 15 years. I am trying to buy points but I have not gotten any responses from my postings. Frustrated!!!

It appears you have only made 4 posts, all on threads where someone is renting points. Just posting in someone else's thread usually won't get you much attention. If you see someone with points to rent, you need to contact them directly, not ask them to contact you.

It would be better for you to submit your own thread, under the category "reservation wanted". Give details about dates, resort, and room type wanted.

Be sure to maintain the thread per the posting guidelines.

First off, you won't be buying points. You want to rent a reservation from a member. You'll need to post when you want to go, what size lodging you need (studio, one bedroom, two bedroom), how many in your party including ages, your preference for resort.

Then, as long as you aren't too close to the time you want, you should get some responses. If you are only a month or so out, you won't get anyone responding other than those who say "I have points. I'll call MS and see what they have." More than likely, there is nothing available for many dates before Easter.

If you are looking at later than 11 months out, you might get some nibbles, but members can't make a reservation any sooner than 11 months out.

Some comments that will turn off some members - "I can only pay $8 a point" or something like that, too specific requirements (they are only requests and are not guaranteed), appearing needy.
