Just submitted my flight info online for Magical Express. Website says:
"You may proceed to the Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center and Disney will collect your luggage. You will need to provide your airline baggage claim check numbers to the Disney representatives."
Don't remember reading this before and no mention of the yellow tags. Any recent experiences of this? Also they now say luggage may take up to 4 hours to arrive in your room.

I'm not surprised about the 4 hour thing. That's how long it took for me to get my luggage when I flew to Disney in 2015.

I went to Bell Services and got it myself. I got back to the room 4 hours after I checked in and saw I didn't have my luggage yet (this was at 8:30pm) so I went to Bell Services to check on it.
They had it but hadn't brought it to the room yet so I claimed it and took it up myself. I decided to pick up my own luggage after that one and it hasn't slowed me down much doing so.

Are you close to your dates of travel? That may be why there was no mention of yellow luggage tags?

It has always been advertised that your luggage should be in your room 4 hours after you check in at your resort.

The only time I was told to provide our baggage claim stubs is when we booked to close to arrival and there wasn't enough time for them to send the Yellow tags.

Are you flying from outside the US?

I got my yellow tags a couple of weeks ago and it didn't say anything like that.

We are flying in late and will be checking in late and using Magic Express would we be waiting for our luggage for 4 hours we even though are room will be ready before we get into Orlando?

If you flight lands after I believe it's 10PM they won't get your luggage, you'll have to get it yourself

I'm 37 days out, flying domestic, arriving in the afternoon, so no reasons there. I reserved ME when I booked my rooms a month ago, was just filling in flight info today. Still hoping I will get yellow tags!

Welcome to the DIS OP. I see you are new to our community. You will find many, many Transportation experts on the Transportation Forum here on the DIS and your question may be best answered there.

Yes. It doesn't matter what time you fly, the 4 hours is the "rule of thumb". Luggage Delivery service is only available until 10 PM. If by late you mean you are arriving after that, then as PP stated, you will need to go to baggage claim and pick up your own luggage. Bring it to Magic Express with you and it will travel to the resort with you, under the bus.

Have always had the disclaimer as far as I can remember. The wife and I bring a carry-on bag with fresh clothes and tooth-brush and tooth-paste and other items so we can change when we arrive at our resort and go to the parks.

Thanks for the Transportation board shout out!! We do try to help.
OP....we have always been told to expect our bags, in our room, up to four hrs after resort checkin. Note....RESORT check in, not arrival at MCO!! I tend to get my own bags if I arrive after 6pm....that time gets me to my resort by 7:30, and the bags delivered by 11:30ish. I prefer to get settled and have a good night's sleep vs waiting for the bags.
If you arrive after 10pm, even the tagged bags won't get picked up! There is no one to take them, so they will go around and around on the baggage claim belt until someone comes along to pull the 'unclaimed' baggage and put it aside until the next morning!
If, for some reason, you didn't get luggage tags, you would then give the CM your baggage claim receipts, and they would send someone to get your bags....as long as it was during operating hours..5am-10pm.
If you have the bags tagged, with the yellow DME tags, there is no reason to show baggage claim receipts. Disney is always wording stuff so as to cover their collective behinds.

I have a question if I might add?

I know I've done this in the past. Our flight is 6:44 pm. arriving around 9:35 pm or so. If I do DME & Get yellow tags, & then before I arrrive, decide that I want to pick up the bags myself *(rather than wait til midnite or so) Can I do that? Or will Yellow tags mean I won't be able to get them...

If you put the yellow tags on, the bags will be intercepted before they get to the bag claim area. They won't appear on the belt, but will be taken to a truck that will deliver them to the resort. So, you'll need to make that decision before you depart: If you want to pick them up yourself, no yellow tags.

I know so many people prefer to have their luggage transported by Disney. But I am just more comfortable picking up our bags, taking them on the bus and then having them with us when we grt to the resort. If the room is ready, we can go right there and get unpacked. If not, we leave them with bell services and go do something else. We would never do parks the first day so we either go to pool or go have lunch somewhere.

On my last trip, I arrived around 1:30 and decided to pick it up myself. I figured there was a good chance my room would be ready, I could unpack my clothes and get to a 5:30 dinner res. Worked out great, got the text with my room # while on the bus and went straight to my room.

For us too. But we decided to pick up our luggage that time although they told us that we could give them the claim stubs.

Not getting yellow tags is not the end of the world. Just give the ME CM your claim checks and they get the bags for you. We've had to do this the past 3 trips for varying reasons. One time we did a mix, yellow tags on some, gave CM claim checks for others.
The bags that didn't have yellow tags arrived very fast, faster than the ones with yellow tags. Within 2 hours of our arrival every time. Maybe a fluke or maybe those bags get there faster. No matter what my #1 reason for using ME is to let them deal with our bags. Still working on finding a way they can get them home for me too ( can't say enough how much I hate bag claim time). I've yet to need a thing in my bags before they arrived. If we arrive too late I just let them keep them overnight. But mostly we arrive in the morning.

Every time we have gone there (most recently 2010 and 2008) we were told 4 hours. They have a lot of bags to deliver!
