New Mattress Purchase

I am still trying out sets. Initially I ruled out TemperPedic brand because of heat. Those that actually have them-is this an issue? Are they as good as the ad claims? Because sitting on it in the store doesn't feel fabulous. But if I don't ache and I do sleep, then that is the key.

We have a Simmons Beautyrest pillowtop and we've been really happy with it. But this last year I noticed, it is not wearing well. It is sinking on my side and my dh outweighs me by 110 pounds, so I can't figure it out. :confused3 We bought it summer of 2004.

Wish this thread had started 2 months ago, or that I had thought of it. We bought a new mattress almost 60 days ago. I was miserable and we had resorted to sleeping on the couches. Well, I am now more miserable. The mattress felt great for the half hour I laid on it at the store, but after one night I was such a wreck I couldn't get out of bed. They said for me to lay on it for 60 days. I can't. I am miserable. I am begining to think it is just me, but we also had a thick foam topper and was miserable on that too. Now we are thinking I need firmer so we are about to ship back our mattress and pay even more in delivery charges to ry a new one.

We thought about sleep number, probably would have been good for me, but we read a lot of troubles with mold on the coils and DH has damaged lungs from the Gulf War and that would have ruined him. Also we heard about the motors being an issue and they are so expensive to begin with then to have problems. But, I have to find something, I am miserable.

Good Luck to you. I truly believe there should be a place like a hotel where you go and spend the night to try out a new mattress. I feel like we threw $1000 out the window.

I *think* I may have found the one. I have tried sets up into the many thousands of dollars. I never tried the lower lines of the name brands. So, today I went to a true mattress store and tried all the ones I have tried before. The Simmons WOrld Class, NXG, Kingsdown Sleep to Live, etc. I move to the next one in the row and it feels "right." I lay a while and think it must be the one and that it must be very expensive. It is the CHEAPEST ONE I tried! It is totally different from any of the others. It's natural latex. Not memory foam, not inner spring. Latex. Who would have guessed. And it has the best warranty of any I looked at 20 years non prorated. It's a Natural Response by King Koil.

I like the ones at the Disney hotels---

My DH found something comparable through Sears...though I don't recall what brand. (That helps, right?).

I'm not familiar with the various models--but he used the descriptions of the ones they sell for Disney to find me something he hopes I will like.

You should "google" that mattress before you buy.

We've had our Tempur-Pedic "DeluxeBed" for a bit over 2 years now, and I don't think it gets too hot. It did seem a bit firm at first, but DH and I really do sleep well on it. The foam "softens" as it adjusts to your body but then recovers when you get up. DH has a VERY bad back, from his neck to his lower back, and he is much more comfortable on this mattress than he was on our innerspring mattress. We chose the 5" foundation rather than the 9" so the bed was not too high for DH to easily get in and out of when his back is acting up. I also like that the 10" mattress is not as thick as some newer mattresses; I don't have trouble finding sheets with pockets big enough to keep the sheet from pulling off at the corners!
