New March 2017 Check In thread

It's been a really rough week in our house. Our beloved fur kid (cat) fell ill and had to be hospitalized at our local university teaching hospital (if anyone lives in Nor Cal and needs vet assistance, UC Davis has been phenomenal to us). He's improving, but requires 4 daily medications that need to be administered via oral syringe twice daily. This will be the case for at least the next week... and as you can imagine it's not the easiest task to complete. The level of difficulty administering the meds coupled with me wanting to be there in case things go south again (God forbid), I'm cancelling my plans for next week.

I keep telling myself that this just means I get to plan another trip...that Disneyland will always be there, but it's all still really hard to take in. I hope the rest of you enjoy yourselves and have great trips.
So sorry. Hope your kitty get better soon.

I've decided that if it rains, we'll get rain ponchos somewhere in or near the parks. It's off season for them here. I did see a child's one size fits all. That means it would likely be a tripping hazard for DD.
I buy them at Target or Walmart in the sports/camping section. They are .99. For DS, I just take scissors & trim the bottom foot off. We still have ours from last WDW trip. They just stay in the suitcase

At $1.42 each at Target two weeks ago, I clearly overpaid for mine!

I'm sorry hear about your cat. I can understand how torn you are.

We leave today! Heading down about 3.5hrs to my husband's grandma's house to spend the night and then officially leave Saturday morning for Anaheim! My son, who is 4, gets super antsy on car rides so we figure breaking up the 9hr drive would be a good thing for him and our sanity lol.

That sounds like a good plan. 9 hours is a long trip for anyone. So excited to hear how the drive goes and your time in the parks.

I'm almost done our ride strategy. Watching the app today, I think I was nuts to consider Radiator Srings without a FP. I can tell we are getting close when DH came into our computer room for our copy of the unofficial guide this afternoon to refresh his knowledge of FPs and the "new" rides. Now I just have to get through next week at work.

Based on what I saw on the app, I'd only do that if a) you have access to EMM at DCA or rope-drop on a non-EMM. One of the reasons we're going on a EMM as non-DLR hotel guests is we don't want to start at Disneyland 3 days in a row.

We have 5 days so planning one DCA rope drop on non EMM day. And first day is beach first, then DCA with WOC so might grab FP before we go to beach if they are late return ones.

Been following silently for about a week. :) We leave on Friday morning for a short 13-16 hour drive o_O (my youngest has to use the bathroom ... a lot)
We will be at the HOJO from the 24th to the 1st. Staying in building 1 with a view for the first time. Hope it is worth the extra little bit of money.
Noticed the weather was calling for some rain on Saturday. Crossing my fingers that it ends up raining the days before and is sunny our entire trip.

I can not wait for this trip!! :dance3:

We will be driving next Friday after work to my daughters to spend the night. Then early Saturday we will be heading to the airport for our first trip to LA/Disneyland. It will be me, DH, DD, and DSiL! Like you guys we are busy getting things done and ready! Can't wait!:jumping1:

A little rain on Saturday might be a bonus. It might keep the crowds down a little. I will hope very little or no rain for you. Lol.

Right now the rain for Saturday (at least on the site I'm checking) is more like very scattered showers. It might be just enough to reduce crowds a little.

DD is a little under the weather right now. Thankfully she has 3 days (parent/teacher interviews) before our trip to rest and get better. I just hope she doesn't share her germs. We'll also be at HOJO - just arriving on the 25th and leaving a on the 31st. We're going to be in building 2.

The crowds don't bother me as much as the rain right now LOL Coming from Oregon where it rains a lot. I am sooooooo ready for the sun. :sunny:

We stayed in building 2 last July. First floor right next to the main doors and loved the easy access to the big swimming pool. We are tentatively planning an August trip. This trip will decide if we want building 1 or building 2.

Edited to add .... It will be me, my 13 year old son, my 6 year old daughter and a friend that needs a vacation as much as I do. Leopardstars maybe we will run into each other.

I still don't know how you guys can do those long drives lol I can't imagine driving from WA to Southern CA. I did SF to Vegas once and I was miserable by the end of the trip!

I just got back. We rode POTC Friday night when I knew there wouldn't be an insane line. Saturday the line was really long, the longest I've ever seen. It looked like 2 hours to me, but the app said it was only 40 minutes. The ride is phenomenal. The bright reds and blues from the clothing stood out and Davy Jones showed up better than I could ever imagine on the smoke screen.

We walked into DL right after the fireworks last night and were able to score a curb seat right on Main Street in front of Lincoln for MSEP. Even though it was very crowded in the parks, we were able to get a lot done. Saturdays are crazy but the long hours make it easy to do/see a lot.

Last min trip to Newport for my husbands work and I'm going to do a first ever solo trip for the day to Disneyland! Looking at Monday the 27th or Tuesday the 28th. My touring plans has expired and I was wondering what y'all would pick if you were trying to hit lower-ish crowd levels.
