I read on the Resorts Board a post that indicated people staying on Disney properties during late August and into September may have received an email offering a new, trial service of something called Magical Beginnings. It lets you order a very limited selection of merchandise/snacks/etc (even a stroller) taht will be delivered to your hotel room. The nice thing about it was that they charged the same price for the items that they charge at the resorts and the service fee at most was $5.

Was wondering if anyone had done this or requested it....and how the presentation was, if the items were waiting in your room, etc.

Thanks!

So, they aren't doing this after Sept. 30?? That stinks! I'd love to order something, but we aren't coming in until Oct. 19. Anyone know if they will do anything in Oct.?

I hope they continue this. It would be very convenient to order the autograph books and have them waiting for us. :thumbsup2

New Magical Beginnings in room delivery?

When I read the title of this, I thought you were asking about the birthin' of babies in resort rooms! :rotfl2:

I guess this ties in with their new Magical Beginnings promotion for pre-school kids. I would have thought that they are just test running it on a limited basis to see how it could work. I would love for Disney to do some interesting in-room gift baskets (Disney florists aside, never been very excited about the selection) There is nothing like your kid finding something in your room and thinking Mickey's been (Thanks to FeralPeg for that, hope the new job is working out!) Anyone try it?

Not for sure how it will be presented, but I placed my order yesterday! Mostly Chip & Dale snacks and some Minnie's Bakery Cookies, but I also got the Activity packs with markers, stickers and coloring sheets.

There are lots of cute things to get and if your order is over $30.00 (not hard to do!) they waive the $5.00 delivery charge. I'm remembering now that one of the op on the Resort Board said the items would be in a reg. Disney shopping bag, then placed in a white bag with the Magical Beginnings logo. It didn't really matter to me, my kids will be thrilled no matter what the package looks like!

... we're just a little more than 24 hours away from surprising our twins with the announcement of our upcoming trip... I can hardly contain myself!!! :bounce:

I really hope they bring this back by October! I really would love to have some goodies waiting for us when we arrive to our room! :cheer2:

Hopefully they will make more items available. Here's the downside (that I can see off the bat) It says delivery will be by 9:00pm on date of check in and if you check in after 9pm then it's delivered the next day.
Let's say you want autograph books, fat pens and Mickey ears. And you check in at 10am and want to go directly to the park. Your order *may* not be in your room since *technically* check in is at 3pm. They also will not do personalization.
Hopefully they will expand their shopping carts and work out the kinks.

I have order a few things, ok a lot of things for my DS and DH. I ordered the snacks which will be nice for us to eat and an electric toothbrush for my DS. Along with a stuffed mickey mouse. We went over $30 easy but what a nice surprise for my DS to see gifts from Mickey when we enter the room.

Wish i would have known about this prior to my arrival/departure. Oh well. :rolleyes1

When I heard about this idea I thought it would be great to have a couple things already in the room when we arrived. Imagine the look on a 2 year olds face to think that Mickey left them something in their room. The only thing holding me back from doing this is that I am not sure that it is going to be there when we check in. We should arrive in Disney around 11:30 AM and check in around noon or 12:30 PM. I can't be sure that the room will be ready or that my stuff will be there. I would hate to have to buy the items again at the park that afternoon. It would be perfect if I could atleast get the bag at check in if the room wasn't available.

Just ordered a bag full of goodies for my son!! Can't wait to get there!! :Pinkbounc

Hi, we did this a week ago. The order was there when we got there, kids were really suprised. I ordered on a Friday and it was in our room on Sunday!
They put all the items in a regular disney shopping bag and they put that bag into a white paper shopping bag with Magical Beginnings written on it. Inside there is a card thanking you for your purchase. It was nice having the snacks in the room without going out to buy them!

I really wish that we had know about this sooner. We arrive tomorrow :woohoo: and it says you need oreder at least 72 hours in advance :guilty: . Oh well!!!!

I can confirm that this is indeed how the items are presented. I had ordered from this program, then had second thoughts (figured I had better ways to spend the money at WDW!) so cancelled at home four days before we left on our trip. The Disney rep was very nice about it, said she had confirmed that the order had not yet been sent to the resort (apparently they are being fufilled at a central location), and sent me an e-mail confirming my cancellation. However, a bag was delivered to our room after check-in (we weren't there at the time). I returned it to the front desk of our resort (WL, not that is matters) and the next day received an envelope with a credit slip - which did not match my original order. (They had messed up a few items.) Being that I think I had gotten a credit when I first cancelled my order, I'm not sure what this second one was about - I'll have to wait to see until my next cc bill comes in.

Bottom line- I thnk they are working the kinks out, but I am sure they will get it under control and I think it's a fabulous idea. I also think they need to expand their offerings (a big reason why I cancelled), but I understand that this could be tough logisitically for them...it may not be worth Disney's while, even though we'd all love to see it.
