Just announced - Starting 1/2/05.

I post this because I am curious what other think, especially the "option" of having your tickets have no expiration date for the cost of up to $55.00 on a 7 day ticket.

I wish they had posted the costs of the meal add on option...

I hate it.

This is just a price increase in disguise. It is way to complicated. It is going to take 1/2 hour to explain this at checkin's and ticket booths.

I don't like the penalty for not using the tickets within the allotted time period. Other than that, it doesn't bother me. It actually helps us because we often spend less time at WDW nowadays than the current hoppers offer.

This is actually pretty cool if you want to buy less then 4 days and visit more than 1 park. It doesn't pay if you want 4, 5, or 7 days the way I see it. At that point you just buy a park hopper and they dont expire. I wonder if you can buy more than 7 days?

7 Days is the maximum available. For most guests, this system will offer more significant savings. Although the one-day one-park ticket price is increasing, that ticket has not been the most economical choice for many years. A 7-Day park hopper plus w/o expiration will actually be less expensive and will offer an additional plus (which can be used for DisneyQuest admission as well with this system). I think once the dust settles this will be a very positive change.

The prices listed in the press release are the gate prices. Advance Purchase (pre-arrival) savings will still be available, so when comparing current prices be sure to compare the current gate price, not APS. Also, people who do not wish to park hop will save more because they will not have to pay for an option they are not going to use.

This sounds very confusing, and as someone said, I'm trying to picture the CMs explaining this to every customer. People have trouble deciding what they want in the snack line at the movies - and there's less choice there! "Do you want no expiry date with that?"

I think the main reason this seems so confusing is because so much is changing at once. Broken down on a chart, it makes much more sense and it's much more straight-forward than it seems at first-glance.

I believe that tickets are available for up to 10 days. This is a huge advantage for guests that want longer stays, as the savings really do increase significantly the longer you stay.
Also the deals for Florida Residents are much better, and will be available all the time.

So I wonder.....can you still get an AP? Are "old" unused tickets still good?

Yes, Annual Passes will still be available. Yes, old ticket media that have not been completely used or expired will still be valid.

So I think it sounds like a good Idea, but I also agree with a couple other people, the CM's are not going to be able to explain this to every single guest. In the long run it may be better, but right now it stinks. Sometimes change just is hard to adjust to.
