I like Mulan but I think Pocahontas would look better if she still had the colored necklace

I think Mulan looks a little less traditional and more "princess-y" because the wider skirt. Pocahontas, to me, hasn't changed substantially, but I agree with PP that it's too bad they removed the turquoise necklace.

I like the new outfits much more since they look so much more realistic. I'm very happy that Mulan and Pocahontas got their makeovers like the other princesses did a while back although I agree I'll miss the turquoise necklace! Thanks for the news!

The turquoise necklace always struck me as odd. What were the chances that the east coast native Americans would be able to trade for that, at that time? The shell necklace is much more authentic, IMO.

However she wore the turquoise necklace in the movie so the older look was more authentic to the movie.

Pocahontas is just meh. Without the turquoise necklace (historically inaccurate or not), she just doesn't look like Pocahontas.

Turquoise is an important material in Iroquois culture and the Iroquois would have traded with the coastal Virginia First Nations. So the idea that someone of important stature would have had something that would have been acquired through trade with the inland and much more powerful Iroquois.

Unless they're going to digitally alter the movies and make everyone watch them again it's hard to see how this can be sold as something the public needs or wants.

I'm glad they changed the Pocahontas outfit. It's definitely more modest as it now hits at the knee instead of above and the fringe is more around the collar rather than at the bust. I will miss the turquoise necklace, it was definitely a "statement piece" so it seems odd for her to not be wearing it.

I read a "confessions of Disney princess" article and the girl mentioned that she was often hit on as Pocahontas, but not so much as Mulan. If this keeps creeps from hitting on Pochahontas as much, I think that's a good thing for the cast members.

I'm indifferent about Mulan.

I think I would like Pocahontas' redesign better if it was the same shade as the older dress. Something about the darker colors just seems to blend it too much with the background and skin tone - there's nothing to stand out.

Mulan's dress is nice, but I'd like to see them possibly have her as Ping every now and then. But you know, princess means dress and jewels.

Totally agree, Mulan in my opinion was bad*ss so think they should have made her outfit less "Princess-y" rather than more.

Although saying that, I will definitely be getting in line to meet both of them on my next trip

Prefer the before. They're not really recognisable as Mulan and Pocahontas anymore but rather look like a general representation of the culture
