Does anyone know when they post new listings on Skyauction? I think I am about to lose the auction I am waiting on and need to look for a new one, but they are not for the dates I need. Thanks for any help.

pretty sure they post new ones at least once a day if not more.

wait until the last minute to bid.

then hold it until the last minute. :goodvibes

Thanks spiceycat. DD was disappointed when they bid $ 145 against me towards the end. I just have to keep trying.

I've been searching skyauction everyday for the past 2-3 weeks trying to get a resort for the 4th of July week (YEA!! finally won one yesterday!) anyway - it seems that they add new auctions around 9:00-9:30am each morning & then sometimes a resort or 2 here & there throughout the day but like I said, the majority seems to be added around 9ish (EST) thats when you can see the auction pages increase from say 10 pages of auctions to 14-15 pages for FLORIDA resorts.

GOOD LUCK ! ! ! ! :flower:

:cool1: So happy for you! Hopefully, we will be as lucky and find something for our dates. Have a great time!

I'm looking for sheraton vistana resort on August 5, 2005. But never see it, has anyone seen it recently. I work each day, so I will have to remember to go on that time on the weekend.

I was wondering if someone with experience with skyauction could answer this question. . . .
This is probably a dumb and obvious question, but I wanted to see if I was understanding this right.

A listing for a week at Sheraton Vistana says it is for a one or a two bedroom.
It then has the current bid amount. (obviously)
And then says there is a $195 fee. Ok.

But then further on it lists something like this. . . .

Hotels to choose from : (prices are per unit)

Sheraton's Vistana Resort - 1 Bedroom Suite

$100 Sheraton's Vistana Resort - 2 Bedroom suite sleeps 6

$150 Sheraton's Vistana Resort - 2 Bedroom suite sleeps 8

Does this mean for the 2 bed you add that amount to the winning bid amount and the $195?
So say, I win it at $100 (just guessing an easy number)
If I chose the 2 bedroom/sleeps 6 my total would be $395?

Also, would that mean for a hundred I would get an older unit with the 2 twin beds and for $150 I would probably get one of the newer units with 2 double beds?

Ok, hope someone can figure out what I am talking about. lol, I've confused myself already.

:wave2:

You almost have it.

$410 to be exact.

You forgot about the $15 skyauction fee.

So..........it's $15 +$195 (that's the $210 everybody talks of when bidding on SA for a 7 day resort)

+ your bid + any extra charges (like for choosing the 2 bedroom)...........

$210 + $100 (bid) + $100 (2 bed.) = $410

But just so you know........I would definately spend the extra $25(edited to add: whoops, I guess it's $50 now, sorry) and get the sleeps eight. This will put you in a good section. We stayed in one of these (way back before SA put an "extra charge" for it) in the Lakes section and would stay there in a heartbeat again.

Can someone help me out?? I'm looking at my Vistana map and wrote down some notes.............is this right? For "sleeps 8", could you get Palms or Springs..........along with Fountains, Lakes or Cascades? I know about the last three but not sure about Palms or Springs.

Raevyn...........you would be very happy at Fountains, Lakes or Cascades.........and I think at the other ones also, just want someone to check on me. :flower:

yes vistana comes up quite a bit BUT you have to keep in mind - it seems like alot of the auctions end at say 1, 2 or 3:00 in the afternoon if you are working then you would need to set your auto bid kind of high (but of course no higher than you are willing to pay). I had to keep my page pulled up & keep checking because people kept bidding against me (different resorts) & I was afraid someone would bid higher than my highest autobid (& alot of times they did outbid me as I was trying for the ever popular 4th of July week). Vistana seems to get pretty high bids too. If you search on the weekend you are most likely to find auctions that will end during the week while you are at work. but hopefully you may be able to find an auction ending on the weekend! Good Luck!!!!! :flower:

Thank YOU Mom of S, B, and B!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I kinda thought I was understanding it. . . but wanted to make sure! Hadn't noticed the $15, so thank you!
Your indepth explaination was just what I needed!

New to Skyauction, obviously.

You might check out eBay.
Just do a search for Sheraton Vistana or just Vistana.
Right now there is an auction for August 6th check in, going for $685 right now.

That's the best I could find. All else (at eBay and Skyauction) I've seen are for September or later check in dates. Sorry. :confused3

Your welcome. :flower: I want Skyauction to get lots and lots of business so they keep going. :teeth:

I think that they also rerun/new listing each auction approx. every four days. I've booked many vacation weeks with them (8 so far), if I get out bid after the auction is done I do a search using "Vistana" and all the new and currently running one show up.

The differnce between the 2 bedroom that sleeps 6 and the 2 Bdrm that sleeps 8 is that the 8 is a lockoff unit- a 1 bedroom & studio together.

We had a 2 bedroom (6) in Lakes section and it have 2 double beds/ 1 king in the Master and a Queen pull-out sofa.

I know that every auction and resort are different, but can someone give a ballpark on what they saved with SkyAuction vs. a straight booking?

I've never even bought so much as a lamp on eBay yet so the auction biz is a little intimidating to me.

Thanks!

I just won a Skyauction for Vistana Resort in Orlando. My total cost with fees for a 2 bedroom villa that sleeps 8 was just under $600.00, which is less than $90.00 a night! I checked rates through other on-line sites and they run anywhere from $175 - $269 per night.

They supplied a unit number (I hope they don't change it!) and it appears that it is in the Lakes section.

Can anyone out there explain a little more what a lockoff unit is? MaMudduck's post indicated that a unit that sleeps 8 is a lockoff.

What was the room # the gave you?....Is it the Lakes because you check the Vistana map?

This first link shows the size of a 2-bedroom lock off: You may want the enlarged map version Lakes 2 bedroom lockoff

Notice that this unit has Master suite (King Bed)- Bedroom with Queen and 2 living rooms with a pull-out in each. 1 Full size kitchen and 1 kitchenette (1400sq ft)

This link is the 2bedroom regular- Lakes 2 bedroom
This is the unit we had last year:
Master room, 2nd bdrm- 2 doubles, 1 full-size kitchen, 1 living room 1174sq ft.

It's a great resort...I'm looking forward to staying there again in October!

The unit # was in the 1800's, and when I checked the map it was the Lakes section. I paid the extra $50.00 for the villa that sleeps 8.

I was told on another post that may not be the room I get, as specific rooms are not guaranteed and can change at any time.

Thanks for the link! If I get that size room for $600.00 it will be the best vacation value I've ever had!
