New Lego Themed Set

I showed this to DH the other night and he said oh birthday gift for you (me). So i wouldn't be surprised if I get it for my birthday even though I am ready to chuck all the lego's in my house in the trash. They are getting a little too much for my comfort.

This is something I have waited quite some time for. It really is a beautiful set, I'd love to have it sitting next to my bed with a neat WDW poster or framed-picture behind it. It is a bit out of my budget for the time being, but hopefully one day. I would love to see a Spaceship Earth set in the future, that would truly be an interesting (and fun) build.

Just had to pick myself up off the floor from fainting. Look at the resale prices. Do not donate them (unless you know an awesome kid who needs them, in which case donate personally), do NOT throw them away. Seriously.

Agree resale value is amazing!
For popular sets used sets sell for more than original price.
I've been doing a lot of shopping on Brick Link lately for my 3 year old son.
And for the poster who mentioned wanting more Disney minifigures - you can buy those on Brick Link too (my new favorite website)

I just voted for the Haunted Mansion and will definitely be buying this castle and putting away for a few years until my son is older! (Kicking myself for not doing that with Harry Potter)

OH i won't throw them away or give them away. Its just ALL OVER MY HOUSE. I have a lego in my bedroom, I have lego's under my tv, I have 4 starwars lego's at my kids play thing in the family room which is where my tv is. That doesn't include what is downstairs and in bins. I just want an adult house right now instead of lego's EVERYWHERE! After my son was born I kind of allowed my husband to go on a lego spree and now i am kicking myself. I alone probably purchased about $700 worth of lego's though retail was well over 1000...which I got for $200 on a swip swap page. I won't be getting rid of anything just want to not have to look at them all the time.

Did I mention my son is only 21 months.

I wanted the harry potter stuff and now to get ahold of that and the cost...little out of what we are comfortable with.

I've never bought a Lego set on release day before.
Do we think this will sell out on Sept 1st?
Is it best to buy on Lego.com at midnight?

When I have bought the day of release for a star wars lego it was more like 8 am est in the morning when you can start buying. I don't remember if it did sell out or not but we ended up getting a second so we can resell later on.

For those that want to sell their LEGO sets - go to Bricklink.com, and look at the prices. You can part your stuff out, sell whole sets outright, etc, and get great deals. DO NOT DUMP LEGO! Or, if you do, dump them to me.:goodvibes:rolleyes1 Even mini-figs can go for high prices, example: I have a Kanan from the Rebels series that has black hair. In the animated series, he has dark brown hair. They changed the hair after the series premiered to match better because at the time, LEGO didn't have much to work with. Black-haired Kanan is worth around $15 now. A Twilick from an old Star Wars Jabba set is worth quite a bit because she was exclusive to the set. That Tinkerbell will go for a bit, maybe $20? because she is exclusive.

Even certain stickers or parts of sets or pieces of colored bricks go for $$ because you could only get them with sets. So, before you dump, reseach whatcha got. Maybe that rare piece of trans-green 1 stud brick you have will be enough to fund an entire castle! Who knows?

Eek! Wish I had known this a couple of weeks ago. I bought 3 Tidy Kat kitty litter buckets full of Legos at a garage sale for $5.00 a bucket. Now the bad news, I have already given them to my grandson. Ugh. I can't be bad Grandma and ask for them back, but I will ask them not to get rid of them when/if he stops playing with Legos. Good info to have anyway. Thanks!

Well, LEGO means "play well". To semi-quote Woody from Toy Story, "We're toys, we are here for Andy, and that's what's important."

i'll be camping out on the lego store online at midnight to see if i can snag a set, otherwise im going to the closest lego store and camping there haha

Don't be surprised if this sells out instantly despite its price tag. You should try buying a Disney print from Mondo sometime. ;)

Holy crow, people would be crazy to pay resale prices right now when it's not even released...I'll just order online ;)

I took my 13-year-old son to one of these Lego convention kinda things recently. Of course, they're selling all kinds of rare pieces for all sorts of crazy money. I could see the eyes get big, the wheels start spinning.

So he goes home and starts going through his stuff. He has a Lego Room. Not a collection. A ROOM of Legos. He just sold one minifgure. ONE. Some silly looking guy in a bunny suit for $30!!! He now has one of the figures from a Harry Potter set that he put on eBay last night. It's already got a bid of $17. That was the opening bid!

Of course, why is he selling these things....to buy more Legos.

Ha!! Good on him! My DH told me that people are paying $40/50 for the Deadpool figure!! DH just bought a Iron Fist fig for $15, but he bought it early to avoid price hikes when the Iron Fist nexflix show comes out.

I'm still trying to talk myself out of buying it. Darn home-owning vs Lego collecting. Hard to be a responsible adult when all you want is LEGO!

BTW: Check out the youtube site, JANGBRICKS. This guy does amazing custom builds + LEGO reviews, so you have an idea if the set you want is cool or not.

I want to buy it in the hopes they make other Lego sets like the Contemporary or Spaceship Earth.

For anyone wondering, this is up for early purchase for VIP lego members. I ordered mine online yesterday for saturday delivery. Lego store near me sold out 22 of them in an hour and disney springs lego store sold out before 10am and started turning people away
