New kindle 3 with wi-fi

I finally jumped on the bandwagon and pre-ordered the Kindle 3. SOooo excited since I LOVE to read.
My only concern is that I borrow a lot of books from the library to save money. Is there any way to borrow the ebooks from the library and somehow convert it to put on the Kindle?

From what I have read, the Kindle doesn't support the ebooks that you can borrow. The Nook is what you would need for that.

This is what I thought, too - but check out the "Amazon Fights Back" thread further down the Budget Board page - a poster described how she does this, using a free program called Calibre to convert the file (she downloads from her public library to her computer) into a Kindle-friendly format she can then load on her Kindle.

I haven't tried it yet because the library feature isn't something I need or want, but for those who want a Kindle and also want to use the library, it's useful info.

Too bad you got the Kindle then. Nice e-reader but if you wanted to save money and get all the great e-pub books from the library, then you should have landed a Nook or the sony e-reader. Plus the nook has the lending ability so you can share the books with a friend.

Can you return the kindle? Sounds like another ereader might be a better fit for you

I pre-ordered the kindle and can cancel it, but when I look at the kindle and the nook, it seems the kindle has everything else I want. Just the dark library thing that doesn't work out for me.
