New June - Team Hakuna Matata!

Margie Erica Dawn Eva, you guys are kicking some serious ..... KEWL!!!

We did get the basement totally wired for sound and electrical, got the Home theater stuff ordered, putting in seperate area speakers and volume controls, it should ROCK!!!!!!.

Also got the electronics set up in the exercise room. with a new set of Rabbit Ears. Lynn can explain.

Insulation and drywall are next, want to get some insuyltaion up tonight.

Got a fast 1.5 mile run in this morn and hope to het a longger one in tonight then some basement stuff done.

Dave, now you know how the cages tiger feels, and you also know the freedom of the road. Be glad it is over.

Good Morning Team!

What Scott was talking about was that we bought a new TV for the workout room (we were using one that we bought for the camper years ago, and it would not hook up to the satellite, as well as not being digital). We set up the TV with an antenna, so that we can watch it until we get the satellite hooked up in the basement, and I also wanted the antenna option so that we can get the local TV station during those "severe weather" situations that the satellite usually is not working correctly - usually because it is full of hail!!! We are now getting the local station in great - before it was really snowy. Also, the new TV is bringing in other stations that I did not existed - we got only 3 on the old TV - now we get 7! The DVD player we tried to hook up has died since we last used it, but we did hook up the VHS player - most of my exercise tapes are VHS anyway, and we have lots of movies on VHS to watch!!!

The wind has really picked up today, guess I will not do the bike ride I was planning for today - that means the dogs will get a longer walk. I will also get in a Pilates tape today, and some bowflex work as today is really supposed to be cross training day.

Everyone have a great day!!!

Hi team! Hope everyone had a great weekend! I was able to run on both Saturday and Sunday - though Sunday I was feeling a little out of gas and was trying to fight a headache. I ended up breaking up my last 12 minute interval into two 6 minute segments with a 1 minute break in the middle. I'm very glad I finished but it sure felt like I had to fight for it!

Thank-you so much to everyone for posting those recipes! I was missing dessert a lot this month (no sugar) - but with these recipes I think I'll keep going for another month. I never thought of using diet pop to make cakes, that's pretty cool!

Margie - That's a lot of miles! You've inspired me to set a goal for next month!

Connie - :wave2:

Eva - Good luck with your LR tonight :)

Dawn - Congrats on your run!! I remember the first time I transitioned from the TM to outdoors - there's wind resistance? it's hot? *lol*

Erica - Is that a good pace for you? I know it's a lot faster than when I walk. The last time I checked my walking pace, I think it was around 16 m/m. I've tried walking faster but I just can't keep it up.

Everyone - Have a great Monday :wave2:

I will go out for an easy walk when the sun goes down, as I still need another Rest Day! ::yes::

Then my Lower Body workout at the gym early morning.

I have a 5k Cheetah Chase at the Zoo Saturday. Hoping the weather forecast for Saturday is somewhat accurate with a high of 78 degrees. :thumbsup2

Connie, do you want us to wait until Monday, June 30th to PM you our miles?

LR went good. It ended up being sunny and in the low 70s...perfect to run outdoors so I went to mapmyrun and got creative. 7 miles later I was feeling great!! I usually need some calories around 5 miles, however I read that if you wait till you feel that you need them it's too late. I notice that my mile 4 is always a little slower than 1-3 and miles after the Gu....so I'm gonna try moving the Gu up a bit and see if that helps. Even with the "slow" mile 4 I still averaged a pace of 10.28. Not too shabby. :cool1:

Anywho..today is an early day at work so I should get going. It seems that as my runs get longer I am more and more pressed for time. I have no idea what I'm going to do when I'm running 30+ miles a week!

Hope you all have a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning team.

Erica has to go in for some tests today. Nothing serious just a well princess check. Since she has had so many problems in the past with her heart and blood pressure issues we have her checked regularly. Not expecting any problems. She had to just have clear liquids yesterday so after the procedure this morning she is ready to eat anything that gets in her way.

What exercise I'll get today leaves to be seen. Fortunately I can take a rest day anytime so it will be cool if I do just rest.

There is never enouth time or money to always do what we want to do. I think we all are going to have to cut some corners here and there. Please everyone as you come accross a way to save a nickel especially on a Disney trip, share with the rest of us.

Everyone have a wonderfull day and remember to choose to be happy.

Walking Panda:hippie:

I'm happy!!! :cloud9:

Margie! And EVERYONE! Yes, our next reporting date will June 30. Thanks for reminding me, Funwalker. Margie, good luck on your zoo race! Sounds like fun!

Vkie Hi, thanks for thinking of me! I appreciate it sooooooo much!

Lynn and Scott Glad the basement is coming along. I know what you mean about the TV and the sattelite in bad weather. I have to keep batteries in a radio, so that I can keep up with the weather in the event of a torando. We have only had to go to the cellar once, so far this year. But we had a lot of damage the other day with straitght line winds at 80 mph. Fortunately, the shop project required getting rid of the old Elm trees this spring or things would have been really, really bad!

I am off to do an interval training session. Got to get out of here and get started before the heat does. See ya, later.

Well good luck to Erica today!

Disney Money saving tips:

Last vacation we had a studio at the BWV. We brought snack from home, cereal, coffee, splenda so we could eat breakfast in. We also went to the BW store bought some milk, cream, bottles of water(large) yogurt and fresh fruit. So all breakfasts were at the room, at our leisure. Every morning we would go out for a walk then back at the hotel for breakfast and coffee on our balcony. Mark would draw and I would quilt and watch the painters work above the Flying Fish café. It was a glorious morning ritual.

For lunch or dinner, I was trying to cut my calories and maintain my points for WW so if we ate out, I would try and order the kids portion for me- it was also less expensive and came with carrots and grapes – yummy. Mark and I would buy 1 salad and 1 sandwich and split it. We ate at a lot of counter service – no tipping involved.

I’m sure there are more ideas on the budget board but we spent considerably less this time than in the past.

Morning Kiddies,

Got the morning Run in and am now at work. Looks like we had a major power blip last night so I had a crash of a program that I left working overnight, Bummer. I hate computers today.

The Cheetah Chase sounds fun. We have a 10 K this Sat, they call it Super Saturday, kind of a fair atmosphere. Friday night there is a Celtic/rock band playing at the Train Depot should be fun, I wonder if they are like Off Kilter?

We did get the basement walls about 89.37% insulated last night and I hope to get some more done tonight, will see if I get home in time. Would also like to get another run in, but will have to wait and see about the weather.

Where we save money at WDW is on food, by packing lunch and snacks and our own water bottles. Over the long haul AP's pay off and DVC sure helps. I am getting better about buying unnecessary stuff, we have just too much stuff.

Well good luck to Erica today!

Denise we were already thinking about going to the market and having afternoon picnics with friends. Breakfast we will do both in room and some at Spoodles, that is one of the best sit down values at Disney, a big hot breakfast for around $10.

I hadn't thought about it but you are exactly right about no tipping for the counter services.

Thrifty Panda:hippie:

Denise, is so right about breakfast, we basically do the same, lunch is a sandwich and fruit, and dinner is a dish I cook once and we have leftovers for the other nights.

I know others have saved money by renting a home in the area for a week. I think I read about this in All Ears and Passporter.

We also split almost all our meals when we eat out. I have a restaurant card incase I get hassled about ordering off the kids menu. This has never happened at WDW.

Good Morning Team!

Looks like it will be another nice day here, but thunderstorms predicted for evening. It was a really nice evening yesterday, after a storm went thru and cooled everything off!

No wind today, so will need to get out with the dogs ASAP. I now have to carry water for them, added weight, and more time with water stops, but I am trying to keep my pace up even with the stops - I figure they will count as pee stops on a race!

Scott already covered most of our meat cost saving measures at WDW. We rarely eat out, except with a group for some kind of meet - or during Wine and Food, then we have to graze our way around the world a few times.

Connie - hope your damage was not too costly! And glad that you were not injured. We do have those winds occasionally, but usually in the winter. The highest gusts we have had lately were 60mph.

OK - need to get out with the dogs! Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone! We had a really big rainstorm yesterday afternoon. I didn't realize how bad it was until I went to my DF's parent's house after work. Their basement had flooded but no one there had realized. It wasn't as bad as it could have been but DF and I ended up cleaning the entire basement - mopping, throwing things away, vaccuuming etc. At the end of it all, I went upstairs to wash my hands and sit down for a few minutes and his mom says to me "So is it still a mess downstairs?" - What?!? How about a "thank-you"? And this was the second time I helped her to clean up after a flooding ... :headache: Good grief! I'm glad I got to go for a quick walk at lunch because by the time we were done, it was pretty late and I was out of energy. :faint:

Erica - Hope the medical tests go well today :goodvibes

Scott - What does the restaurant card do? Sometimes I order from the kid's menu too (not just at Disney) because the adult portions are huge! I've only been told once that I can't have a kid's meal. I didn't understand why...

Dave - Sometimes DF and I will have a "late" day at Disney and then we'll eat breakfast around 10:30-11AM. We use that to cover our breakfast and lunch. At CS places, we'll ask for a cup of ice water, it usually saves us from buying a bottle of water here and there. We also hit a grocery store and pick up small snacks and a case of bottled water... and then all the money we save, we end up spending at the outlet mall  :faint:

Also before the trip, we try to fly on CC or FF points. And get a ride to and from the airport so that we can save on parking or taxi fare. I dunno... I need some tips for January too!

Margie - We have a 10K run at our zoo as well. It doesn't take place until October. My cousin and I thought about running it - but I think it's quite hilly. I haven't been to the zoo for a while. I like that the race is on a Saturday though :) Good luck with your race!! Let us know how it goes!

Vicky, My restaurant card is because I had Gastric Bypass surgery , wow about 7 years ago, that is why I can no longer have carbonated drink or aspirin.

Update, on 405, pretty kewl how it displays your info. Maps your route and gives lots o info. Worked well this morning. Prob more accurate than the Ipod.

Erica's upper and lower endoscopey went well and she got a clean bill of health for her plumbing. This was part of her well princess check.

We are whipped though since it was an all day affair, so count this a rest day with a little bit of yard work.

Have a great evening guys.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Good news for sure, enjoy your rest.

Worked 13 hours and made it home.

Morning Kids,

Are you on a trail Scott? I know that must be stgressful when you are getting close.

Where are all our pretty princesses today?

Awesome walk today. I was stiff and a little sore from so much sitting yesterday so first mile was an easy 14:00 to warm up. Then I shifted into Power Panda for the last 3 miles on the hills. Time for the 3 miles was 35:19, that was an 11:46 pace. Felt great and could have kept going.

Weights and calistetics for upper body and finished up with stretching.

Have a wonderfull day everyone.
