I was reading the first line on the dis Home page were it says "Plans for Epcot's Italy Pavilion new restaurant revealed." Does anybody know anything about this? L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante is one of my favorites and I go almost every trip. (I have even been to the original one in Rome.(I saw mickey mouse's picture with his autograph there along with Walt's picture and autograph).

Hi, Yes, it's closing :sad2: There are a bunch of posts in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1370372&referrerid=&highlight=alfredo+closing

I think I also saw an announcement of what restaurant (Italian) is going to take its place, but I couldn't find that one this morning. Maybe you can use this as an excuse to try some other places you've been wanting to :thumbsup2 There's another post here somewhere - someone who's going to try all new things on their next trip - new resort, new restaurants, etc.

Good luck!

Word is that it will be Naples (the same Italian restaurant found at Disneyland). It rumored to be not much better than Alfredo's was.

That sounds like an Internet rumor. There's no reason to believe that "Naples (the same Italian restaurant found at Disneyland" is coming to Epcot.

Yes, Patina Restaurant Group, which owns Naples, will be the new operator of the restaurant at Epcot's Italy. However, Patina has a history of developing and operating one-of-a-kind restaurants.

Initially, Patina will just take over the current restaurant (presumably with a new name and menu) on September 1, 2007. Patina has said that in Fall 2008, they will open a new "flagship" restaurant concept. They didn't say that they're cloning Naples.

I agree. Patina develops individual restaurants....it probably won't be Naples. I am dying to see what they do, though! I didn't realize they wouldn't have their own concept in there until 2008...I guess that just gives an excuse for another trip!!

The new restaurant will accept the dining plan and many of us assume it will be a one credit restaurant.

You're right, we don't know the final name or menu of the restaurant. Based on the current dining reimbursement rate, $26-$27 the restaurant is likely to be a mid-level restaurant, similar to Naples. Although we don't know the exact details it's safe to assume the restaurant will be a lot closer to the Naples restaurant by Disneyland then Il Mulino in the Swan or the California Grill. The Patinagroup has a restaurant named Naples 45 in New York.

I'm not sure it really matters what they call it... I suspect that their other restaurants will provide an indication of what they're likely to provide, in terms of quality and cuisine, at Epcot.
