If you're thinking of buying an iPad, hold off until January! A new version is due out along with video chat, thinner body, USB port, higher resolution display and more - well worth a short wait!

can you provide a link to source? I just bought one on Black friday but I really, really want an USB port, so if this is true, I'm going to return it and wait for January.

I'd like to see the details too! We almost bought one on BF too, we were tempted by the $41 discount! But we had heard rumors that a new version was on it's way and decided to wait.

Seems like with Apple's portable products they have some new update/improvement every year or so. I remember all those people who lined up to be first to pay through the nose for an Iphone only to have prices drop a short time later and , of course, upgrades on later models. There is always going to be something new & better around the corner. You simply decide if you're ready to take the plunge now, or wait for the next iteration. :earsboy:

It would piss a lot of people off to get a Christmas present that is obsolete in less than a month. Apple is not that stupid.

January? I heard late Spring to Summer. Can you post where you saw that date?

Same thing I heard, and I'm a regular Mac Rumors user. The rumor was posted re. January, but it hasn't been given much credence thus far.

Personally, I bought an iPad on Black Friday and ended up returning it this morning. I love absolutely everything about it except for the fact that Apple killed video playlists on it. It's ridiculous, because that's functionality that has been readily available on "lesser" devices such as iPod Touches and iPhones for at least the last 2 generations. That's a huge part of what I use my iPods for--I have a few hundred music videos which are in multiple playlists (including one that contains all of them) and like to be able to hit shuffle and have them play in random order through a dock connected to my TV. It's my background music while I work during the day. As 32GB has proven to be too small for my needs :rolleyes1 , I decided to upgrade to 64GB and figured, "What the heck? Might as well upgrade the whole device and get an iPad--better for watching on plane trips, etc., not to mention everything else it can do!" I had no idea that the functionality had taken a step backward like that. Grrr.

Yeah, it's probably not something that would bother a lot of people, and if you have no need for video playlists, I say go for the iPad. It's a gorgeous device, not too heavy at all, and sure is easier on the eyes than watching videos on an iPhone. If they've managed to address my beef with it by then, I will be ALL OVER the 2nd-gen iPad, but I'm not lookin' to see them in stores before spring or thereabouts.

ipad2 release date has not been published.

Plenty of speculation but most of what I've ready so far looks like May timeframe.

ITA! ::yes::

I have an Ipad; purchased in June and while I love it so much I am done sharing with DH....he needs his own. So I will wait until the new one hits the shelves and not get him this same one I have for Xmas which I was planning on!

So i will wait for the Ipad with all the new features! :love:
