New Info on VMK Pin/Card sets

Woot, this is awesome. My family trip to WDW starts on Nov. 18th. So we will be there four days after the pins are released. Hopefully they do have lots of these. I didn't see anywhere if it was a limited release. I would hate for them to sell out in four days before we get to the parks.

How nice they have a release date for these. I wish they would do that will all VMK in park stuff. I am looking at my callendar and seeing what I am come up with. I wanted a few days in WDW with DH sans the kid!

Oh yes and they are ALREADY on ebay! sheesh!!

Sure there is! For these "big" ebay dealers, they buy very large quantities and can guarantee they will get at least XX # of each pin. If there are ten pins, and you buy 500 pins, you can be pretty certain you will get at least 5 of each.

The seller is probably going to just keep buying pins 'til he gets the ones that were purchased from him on eBay. With some of the markups I've seen people putting on them, they certainly won't be out any money by having to buy extra pins.

What astonishes me is what folks on eBay expect people to pay for these pins. Order a box straight from Disney, and you pay $14 plus $8.50 shipping. There's one person who's offering a box of two random pins on eBay right now with a "Buy It Now" price of $25 plus $5 shipping.

I have NO PROBLEM taking a day trip to Nu Yawk - maybe I will take the kid to the statue of Liberty or Ground Zero and "swing by" hehe - not that they would mind either! lol

I haven't looked on ebay but there is a protocol for doing pre-sales of merchandise that you expect to have. I haven't dealt with a pre-sale seller lately so I don't know what is done currently but I used to bid on items from the various WDW pin events. The listings had disclaimers about the possibility of the seller not receiving the merchandise and had provisions for refunding any money you paid in advance if that happened. Ebay did have specific rules about indicating your listing was for the pre-sale of the item.

I was at WDW in August 2005 for a release of boxed sets of 2 mystery pins mounted on trading cards. They weren't difficult to buy on the first day of their release but seemed to be gone within about three or four days. I don't know if they ever restocked the sets. I cant remember how many pins there were in the series but I had no trouble buying enough boxes to get a complete set of the pins. I then bought a bunch more at random stores for trading. Most of the stores had the boxes behind the counters, the only exception I encountered was the store at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Back to ebay, I was listing some pins for sale on Monday and noticed a new option you can select when you list your items. It is for indicating if you are selling a virtual item. I didn't check the info though.

(DH is very quick to just let me pick my gifts, where oh where has the romance gone? ) If I can, will I be paying shipping on one order or each individual set? Any help would be appreciated.

It is an "open addtion" meaning LOTS AND LOTS... kids can bug their parents endless to buy these for them every single trip... This is series one... which my guess will be around for a while... BIG BIG way for WDW to make money off of VMK...

Edited to add.... Some Host who shall remain nameless is sad that it doesnt look like DLR will be getting these pins... but then again all she knew is what was on the Disney pin trading site... nothing more... At least most people can mail order them... and the release is just in time for Christmas!! Get those pins on your list kids!!

I'm just grateful they ARE letting us mail order these. I was really afraid they wouldn't. I could maybe somehow someday find a way to trade for the items I don't have in VMK (have none but the bird hat, which I ) , but by golly I want that Donald real life pin!!! I collect Donald pins from WDW, and that's one of the best I've seen for him. I just hope I don't have to go broke to get one in one of those boxes.

I am a big pin collector, fanatical VMK player, and pirate fan. These are going to be GREAT! If they don't come to DLR, looks like I'll be mail ordering them. I figure I'll buy like 5-10 boxes, so I'm sure to get dupes. I look forward to trading with you dissers!

The pins all look great and I certainly want the whole series if I can... I'm a little disappointed with VMK that they're re-releasing the original Pirate Quest stuff. I could have sworn Yavn answered in one of these recent Q&A that they had no plans to do that (I'll look for it and post a link when I can).

But I am excited about, and no one seems to have mentioned, that the Mickey's Reward, Dodge Ball Dale, and Jolly Chip pins appear to be new VMK chairs! The Mickey's Reward looks like it'll be especially cool!

I also wonder, which of these 10 pins/cards will be the rare and which will be the common...

I went to the Official Disney Pin site where the new VMK pins are listed. I clicked on shipping and the picture below is the chart it gave me. Mine is different them Coasterguys so it just confuses me even more.
