New info on "Million Dreams" promo

The latest MiceAge column has sort of the contrarian view. Al says DL has already contracted with an independent company to award prizes--no CMs, to avoid any appearance of impropriety. So I imagine anyone will have a shot at winning any prize--there are just too many laws for it to be any other way. Also, while something like 1 in 20 families will win a prize, the vast majority will be along the lines of a free hamburger or free churros. Which, while a nice surprise, may not be everyone's idea of "a dream come true," at least in Al's opinion.

BTW, also states that the "golden fastpass" mentioned in the press release is good for the rest of the day, not a year or life or anything. Had not seen that confirmed anywhere else.

"Dream Squads"? *sigh*

I'm afraid that this means that they'll be looking for a specific type of people for some of the best awards, such as a night in the castle. I doubt that me and my partner (2 guys in their 30s) would get selected for such an award (or any other special dreams) even though we'd both think it'd be a blast to spend a night in the castle, among other things.

I rather see these things awarded randomly and fairly by a computer such as when you scan your ticket on the way in, or get a fast pass. Maybe Disney doesn't want to risk having, for example in my case, 2 guys to be the ones being sent to all of their parks around the world as ambassadors when they could hand-select the perfect looking family (mom, dad and 2.5 kids.)

Surely nowhere does it say that the "Dream Squad" will be giving that prize away, but I rather see awards, any and all awards, be distributed randomly.

I also want them to give out prizes randomly. My girlfriend and i have been looked over many times by cast members selecting people to go in the parades. I go to disney MANY times and i have seen people get selected for the parade many times and they never select my girldfriend and i, they always go to the nearest FAMILY. :furious: I think they do it to spite us because they always select the famalies that stand next to us in lines. So if you want to be in a parade just stand your family next to me and youll be sure to get selected to be in the parade.
This dosnt only happen with the parade it also happens when the castmembers are out and they are doing their surveys on the park guests, while waiting for a parade they askes the family next to us questions and then skip us then ask the family on out other side questions. they tottaly skipped us!! :furious: They must not care much for couples :confused3 I the new promotion will be the same :guilty: it says one in every 20 families will win and even though i go to the world at least once a month i wont be selected for a prize, but i guess i could look at the bright side and say that my prize being able to go to the world once a month :)

I get selected for those surveys at least three times during each of my WDW vacations. My DH says that I'm a "survey magnet" (I always get stopped for surveys in the mall, too). We're just a middle-aged couple, no kids travel with us, we aren't particularly photogenic or attractive, just ordinary, normal 50-somethings. I guess we just look friendly or something!

That said, I also never win anything, so I won't be taking someone's chance of winning anything! I'll still be answering questions while other people are sleeping in the castle and using their golden Fast Passes!

just wondering how signing up on the disneyparks website for the contest comes into play? what can you win if you only entered online? or am i just thinking of something totally different...lol :rotfl2:

I hope that's true, but this is what set off the warning flag for me: (insert quote)

I saw that too. I'm guessing that it refers to the smaller awards, such as a special photo opportunity or a Golden Fastpass, the type of thing that are already given out to happy/friendly/into the magic people. There's no way at all that they could award extended vacations or anything with an actual cash value over a certain in any fashion than by random lot, and human choice just isn't random. :)

I tend to smile a lot and maybe that is why I am always being stopped to answer survey's and such. Since I am a regular visitor I also have more time to spend talking to CM's and do the small stuff too and that seems to get me more info (as well as fun).

David, there are many such couples as yours who work at DW. I hope you are proven wrong and that you experience the magic. Just go, have fun and let whatever happen happen. It will be magical any way, as long as you are with the one you love.

Any time you get ANYTHING free at DW it is special. Heck, even Beverly can taste good if it is free. :lmao:
