Got this in an email from my travel agent at Dreams Unlimited -

What's New?
Possibly in response to the enforcement of the "no diapers in the pool" rule, the Disney Magic has added water jets to the "floor area" around the kiddie pool (Mickey Head). They can go off similar to the fountains at Epcot where the kids love to play and splash.
And while this has been done on the Magic for a while, they are offering an alternative to the regular dinning rotation with a buffet at Topsiders from 6:30 - 8:00PM. It does not take place on the first two nights, or the last night of the cruise. Reports have indicated that the food is excellent! A sample of the menu follows:

Appetizers:
Shrimp Cocktail
Pineapple Fruit Boat
Seafood Pepper Pot Soup
Caesar Salad (Plain or with Chicken)
Gourmet Mixed Greens (Served with Choice of Dressing)

Main Course:
Garlic Shrimp (With Cilantro & Tomato Linguini Pasta)
Stuffed Pork Loin (Filled with Fruit stuffing)
Grilled Chicken Breast
Grilled Rib-Eye Steak
Broiled Fish of the Day
- Fresh Garden vegetables served with all main courses - Mashed Potatoes or French Fries

Children's Choices:
Ravioli with Tomato Sauce
Corn Dog

Desserts:
Triple Layer Cake (In Dark chocolate sauce)
White Chocolate Cheesecake (Over a Macadamia Crust)
Pina Colada Bread & Butter Pudding (served warm in vanilla sauce)

You get your own appetizer and then order your drinks, main course and dessert from a menu at your table.

This concludes the first Cruise News and if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask Donna or myself, we are happy to help!

Sincerely,
Cathy McConnell

Sounds Great, eh?

The Wonder has had water jets around the Mickey Pool at least since November '00. I assumed the Magic had them also. Are they a new addition? As for the diaper thing, I don't think this would help since, if I remember correctly, the area where the jets are is in the overflow of the pool and water that splashed up on a diaper would just be mixed with pool water.

Okay, just got a new "From the Magic" update. The water jets are apparently not new to the Magic but they have never been working until now. They do work on the Wonder though. :)

The casual dining option at Topsiders is not available the first and last night of the cruise and is available from 7 pm to 10 pm.

I saw the jets working on the Magic last fall, but only once and only for a few minutes. I wondered why they didn't turn it on more often.....it would have pulled some of the crowd away from the slide, probably.

Do you claim fame to having the most posts on the DIS Board?
WOW!

(I'm not worthy!)

LOL Rae, I don't even think I am in the top 20 with number of posts!! :)

Another update.... they are still using the stickers on the Key to the World cards instead of the refillable mugs.

The immigration process at St. Thomas is being simpified. Instead of everyone having to show up at a pre-determined time - those with shore excursions are asked to report first (by 6:30AM) and those who do not plan to leave the ship until later can arrive anytime before 8:00AM. This customs check is still mandatory for all cruise guests (including children) and you must bring your picture ID, passport or birth certificate (for US citizens) along with your Key to the World Card to the Walt Disney Theater.

Special Disney Cruise Line exclusive pin releases. DCL will continue with cruise line exclusive release pins in 2003. The most popular of these last year was the 'DCL Artist Choice' series which featured a pin released once a month with a VERY limited edition size of 750. 375 going to the Magic and 750 going to the Wonder. This years pins started in January and fetaure the same 'DCL Artist Choice' logo - this time in gold rather than silver. Each pin will be limited to 750 (375 each ship) and the release dates will be different for each month - so keep on your toes for these highly sought after pins. Also, don't forget to bring pins to trade on the cruise!!! Cast Members have plenty of pins to trade and some guests may have their pins as well.

I love the idea of the sticker instead of mugs. The mugs are great souviners, but a pain to carry around.

Cathy or Michelle, in that e-mail that we got, it says to let you know of our dates of our past cruise if we are Castaway Club members. I don't think I did that, I just gave my CC number to Michelle. I don't want to bother anyone with another e-mail if I don't have to. Do our CC accounts show those dates, or should I let you know?

Thanks.

CRB, if you have the number that's all that is needed. :) It's only if you DON'T know your CC number that Dreams would need the date of your last sailing to have DCL look it up.

Thanks Michelle, that's one less e-mail from me :D :p
