I just noticed this update here on the DIS! I'm not familiar with this "chain" or group. Anyone? Will this be an improvement or not?

Starting September 1, 2007, this location will become part of the Patina Restaurant Group. Noted for their "Naples" restaurant in Disneyland, the Epcot venue will feature the cuisine of Master Chef Joachim Splichal.

A flagship restaurant is expected to open at this location in the Fall of 2008. It is rumored that it will continue operation during this transition, but booking is not yet available. It will participate in the Magic Your Way Dining plan.

Alfredo's does offer the Disney Dining Experience 20% discount - Holidays excluded. It is not yet known if the Patina restaurant will participate in DDE

The food we had in DTD, CA was not impressive at all, in any of the restaurants. The standards seemed very low. Right now, I am saying this will not be an improvement..but only time will tell.

Thanks for the info. I don't know anything about this company or chef either.

We really enjoy all the Patina restaurants here in CA.

I am excited as Alfredos had fallen off our list over past years from bad food and bad service..... In DL, they have both a counter service option (Napalini - pizza, panini, sandwiches, calzones) and a table service - (Naples - pizza, pasta, salads and some of the higher end fish/beef options).

It will be interested to see if they can work both options into the Italy Pavilion. I think it would be fantastic!

We love their thin crust pizzas and have always enjoyed the counter service fare as well.

We are excited to try it out once they take over! I dont think it will be worse than Alredos and I think it holds high potential to be an improvement.

1) I hope they don't cut the table service short.
2) I'd hate to see Epcot lose a sit-down eatery.

Here is a link to their website.

They have links to their various restaurants which include menus. Looking at the menu for Naples, I could see a pared down version being implemented at Epcot.

I wonder if this will be their only entry in WDW, since they are primary a west coast and New York "chain". They have several steak based restaurants and are trying to buy the Smith and Wollensky Steakhouse chain.

With the concourse steakhour moving downstairs, I wonder if it may be taken over by the Patina group. The timing would work out and since the Contemporary is nominally a convention hotel, a "name" steakhouse would have appeal to the expense account crowd.

Well if they are on par with Smith & Wollensky type business, I'd be happy...well maybe I'd be happy. I was really hoping for a true Italian owned eatery. But, here in New Orleans we had a Smith & Wollensky very briefly, for about a year before Katrina hit. The steaks we have had there could rival anyone's! We are blessed to have many very good steakhouses here, Ruth's Chris just to mention one that has spread out. We thought Smith & Wollensky's was clearly superior to Ruth's.Just our own opinion.

Nice to see some confirmation of this; I had mentioned it in the Alfredo's thread last week but back then it was just a rumor. (There's a link in that message to the Disneyland page describing the restaurant there.)

Actually, I think it would be good to see more CS space in the World Showcase.

Thanks to all for the additional info.!

I'm assuming they will do something other than just a pizza place. Even a very good pizza joint, just does not seem to be a good fit in the World Showcase.

I wouldn't say that. Germany has a hot-dog stand! :)

True and they go so well with an Octoberfest brew!

A CS pizza place would be good. What I meant was that I was hoping for more than a pizza place for the TS restuarant.
