New Iceland volcano

Apologies, I misunderstood. However, I think you were given wrong information. The following is from Columbus' website:

Thanks for info, thats a relief to hear. I think the guy on the other end of the phone was slightly confused. I made it very clear to him what my question was. I am definitely going to go ahead now and book this insurance.

Just going to book mine with them also, after I saw your last post I decided to look at single trip cover then buy annual next time but single trip quote was more than annual cover, probably as we are going for 23 nights. So I might as well go for annual cover.
Thankfully Ash clouds and airline strikes are not something I worry about too much. Such a tiny chance they will affect a trip(Just watch the ash cloud and strike in August now:rotfl2:)

Quidco have increased cashback to 20%

We were stuck in the US for 10 days last year.
We're supposed to be off on holiday again at the weekend.
My exact words to my boyfriend were, "Don't worry about ash, that'll NEVER happen again." And where are we now?

We got an extra 4 days holiday out of it but done over 100 trips abroad and that was the 1st time we have been affected, I still think this one is something and nothing compared to last years but time will tell.

Yeh, we're not too worried. We've come to terms with the fact that we may lose the holiday (and all we paid for it). The best case scenario is that we can go as planned

Booked my cover through Quidco. Have been so paranoid about the cancellation insurance and have read through the whole policy. Can't see that it specifically mentions ash clouds (can see strikes), does this come under Adverse Weather?
Thanks

I would contact them and ask what they list it under as when the first ash cloud caused so much choas last year, most insurers who didn't cover it suddenly classed it as something (anything) not listed ... and therefore did not have to pay. I know that one of them (think it was Halifax?) categorised it under 'disruption' and said that they had no clause for disruption. You may also find it under natural disasters. I doubt it would fall under adverse weather but anything is possible.

Since then however ash cloud seems to have made it's way onto most of the insurance policy summaries in one way or another. If you can't find it, email them or ring them and ask. I want to know where I stand when I take out insurance. Do it now though You should have a cooling off period if you are not happy but it is a short window (usually 7 days).

Thanks. Columbus are listed pretty much everwhere as being one of the few who cover ash cloud. I did speak to them last week on the phone and they said they covered it. Would just like to know exactly where it is on the policy. I will email them so that I have it in writing.

That is why I go that route. :thumbsup2
