Thanks for posting this we have a 2006 Hpnda Odyssey and it has been giving us transmission problems. I wonder if this is related. Printed this out and will give it ro DH when he gets home. :thumbsup2

Thank you SO much!!

Just last week, we were driving home from the Junior Olympics in New Orleans (17 hour drive for us), and our "D" started blinking. We decided to go ahead and make it home, since we didn't notice any really big issues...and we have AAA if an emergency happened. Luckily, we made it. It was the transmission sensor. The mechanic said that things came apart "pretty rough", and to be on the lookout for future problems.

We will definitely look into this.

We had the "blinking D" with our 02 Odyssey shortly after we bought it used in 06. They extended the warranty with the 01s, but not the 02s. At first they were paying to replace the transmissions on the 02 Odysseys anyway, but apparently they stopped doing that about the time we contacted them about our problem.

I had the blinking D with my 05 Pilot and the sensor needed to be replaced. I dont know if the Pilot is under this recall though.

DH has a 2001 Civic, and a couple of years ago, the transmission completely died in a parking lot. The Honda dealer quoted him several hundred ($800?) to replace the transmission, then came back to him and said they'd pay half because he was a good customer... when we went to pick up the car, they told us that Honda decided to pay the entire cost of the transmission. We think they knew then that there was some kind of issue -- car manufacturers have "hidden" recalls where they will make the repair for free if an owner comes in with that specific problem, but isn't serious enough to issue a general recall. Sounds like this issue got past the "hidden" recall point.

Great - I have a 2005 sedan. Last year, had the light on - turns out it was a spider web in the evaporator what'sits. Light's back on again - wonder if this is what is going on.

Accoring to Edmunds the recall includes:

•The Honda recall covers the 2005-'10 Accord, 2007-'10 CR-V and 2005-'08 Element with four-cylinder engines and automatic transmissions.

The free fix is an update to the transmission software, which Honda said "will ease the transition between gears to reduce the possibility of damage."

Honda said it would begin notifying U.S. owners on or after August 31. Owners can call Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009 for more details.

I checked their website and put in my VIN # on my CR-V 2009 and it has no recall.
