What a fabulous trip you will have.

Have stayed at the WDW Swan - so the neighbour of the Dolphin. It was quite a few years ago (5 or 6), but we had a great time. I really think that it is a fantastic location: very close (boat ride) to Epcot and MGM, the Disney Fantastia Gardens Miniature Golf is just the other side of the Swan, and you are right next door to the Beach/Yacht Club and Boardwalk (and all of the restaurants etc. within them - make sure that you check them out). It is very convenient and, I think, a beautiful setting :). That area of Disney is my favourite for on-site hotel locations - can't beat it :)

The Swan/Dolphin share one large freeform pool and a couple of lap pools - certainly very nice and clean when we were there. The grounds are beautiful and the setting unreal. The Dolphin has a "Shula's Steakhouse" - very pricey and a little "solemn" in atmosphere, but the steaks are exceptional. There are quite a few other eateries on-site too.

The Dolphin isn't exactly 5 star (although Virgin may grade it what they like), but it was a good 4 star when we stayed at the Swan. They are still great properties though :)

Will be leaving for Orlando the same day as you (but flying from Gatwick, with BA, and staying off-site in a villa and only for 4 days).

Hope that you have a fantastic time.

Boo

hi, we have just returned from staying in the wdw dolphin on tuesday, we also booked through virgin holidays, it is worth putting a request on your booking for a high floor with a balcony and resort view, we did this and got all three, we where on the top floor of the east wing with a balcony and a view of epcot, it was a stunning view, we sat some nights watching the fireworks over epcot, the dolphin is a beautiful hotel, the staff where very friendly and there is a virgin desk inside the hotel, we where very sad to leave this lovely hotel and are hoping to go back in dec 08, hope this helps susie2

Hi Anna,

Didn't you book with Virgin originally and then cancel it and change to TCD?? or do I have my wires crossed??

Anyway, I am glad you have now got a holiday that you are looking forward to :thumbsup2

just read your other thread - what a shame that your sister experienced all those problems. I bet next year can't come fast enough for you, the Dolphin sounds lovely and you'll have a brilliant time

Ive been to the dolphin several times an i love it! its a great location and the beds are great!

It definately is worth putting a request in for a balcony on a high floor over looking epcot, we had this in september and we could see the fireworks form out balcony, it was fab!

Everyone, as far as I'm concerned, has had a holiday-with, whatever tour company, they would rather forget........................... ;)

I've had a terrible holiday with Airtours but, also, a brilliant one :thumbsup2

Unforunately I feel that, the older you get, the more negative responses you get - never put me off any of my original ideas though :sunny:

I'm also a strong believer that it's, often, a case of whoever picks up the e-mail, booking, booking letter etc, that determines what kind of holiday you get in the end :confused3

Virgin have been fantastic as far as we're concerned.
They've been there if we've required their disabled assistance and not been 'stroppy' enough to moan if DH didn't want any help on landing :)

They've been great - but, I'm certain, not infallible :dance3:
