I got a note fropm Chef Gordon today, confirming our "A Private Affair" reservation for next week. In his note he included the following:

" If you're not too busy, on Sunday afternoon you might want to check out the new Welcome Home Celebration at three o'clock around the Big Dipper Pool. Its' purpose is to highlight all of the fun things that are available for our Guests to do while at Hilton Head. There will be music, games, information station, refreshments and prizes. I'll be there this Sunday, since it's the first one, but my only culinary task will be popping pop corn and pouring lemonade!"

It sounds like the HH version of the Member's Day Barbeque!

I'm planning to be there Sunday at 3:00. I hope to see you there!

Sounds like a good idea, it's one I think will get used as a DIS meet on a regular basis as well LOL.

Most timeshare resorts have an orientation to the area, activities and the like. There are some differences with DVC that would make it difficult to do this full scale like the fact many aren't there for a full week and arive at all days of the week. Many timeshares also use it to showcase things they charge for and make money on and in some cases to drum up potential sales prospeects.

It sounds like the HH version of the Member's BBQ to me also Doc, without having to pull out your wallet. We have had these things going on at OKW for years as you well know Doc. They should be more popular at HH then they have been at OKW. It sounds to me like they are really trying to put on the push at DVC resorts with this thing at HH and the other event at BCV, maybe they will be doing something more at VB also? At any rate sounds like fun.:D

Sounds like a nice way to get acquainted with the island!! And a great way to start out the vacation. We have mentioned before that we wish the Mick's "Ears" (mixer) was on a Sunday or Monday instead of Wednseday because it was so much fun to meet other members and see/talk.sit at the pool/ with them throughout the visit.

How many people do you have for your "Private Affair?" We spoke to Chef Gordon a few times on our trip and it is on our list to try the next trip. If you get a chance, please tell Gordon the parents (Scott and Karen) of the son that caught the 30 lb mackeral said hello!!

Have a wonderful, wonderful, trip!!!!!

What a great idea! I'm so glad that they've added another activity like this.

It will be a great way for people to keep busy on Sundays while they're waiting for their rooms to be ready at 4:00!!!

I agree with Disneyaholic, this may take the edge off for those still waiting for their room on Sunday. We arrive tomorrow and will have a studio for the weekend and then a 2BR- for the 2 of us! We had planned for family to join us, but it didn't work out. Most of the events at HH are very family oriented and they have several CM's who always liven the activity. A very creative bunch! :)

We'll really have "A Private Affair" since it will be the two of us this year. This will be our third dinner with Gordon- the first year it was offered in the GV and last year at the Beach House. Both were great venues. The Beach House location is especially nice with an ocean breeze adding some atmosphere.

I'll give Gordon your message! We're outtahere in 3 hours!

Darn! We'll miss the get together since we don't arrive until Tuesday! Have fun!

Doc,
What night do you have the private affair? We are set up for July 2nd. Our 1st time. Just the 2 of us partaking, but we will have the kids with us.

We are scheduled for Tuesday night, July 1 and are really looking forward to the event. It's truly a "hidden" gem.

I will be at the "Behind the Ears" tour on Wednesday at 10:00am- it's a great program.

It looks like the Mick's Ear is not scheduled for this week. It's not on the schedule. The "Welcome Home Celebration" is set up for 3-5 on Sunday. We'll try to drop in on that too!
