I there! I have been lurking for a bit but I am so excited to say that we are considering a Disney elopment!!! I could really use some help!!

We are hoping to get married in May or June. Just the two of us. We would like to have a dessert party or private area to watch fireworks and have a photographer. I am open to venues, but concerned about it being too hot (my dress is a bit heavy).

Advice? Any air conditioned venues that are part of the memory package? With the memory package can I have a private dessert party? I feel clueless.

Welcome! :wave2:

All of the Memories venues are outside, but Sunrise Terrace at Wilderness Lodge and Conch Cay are in the shade in the morning. Sunrise Terrace is also adjacent to the air-conditioned lobby of Wilderness Lodge, so that might be a good bet—you'd only be outside for the few minutes of the ceremony before you could duck back inside.

The package does not allow for adding on private catered events through Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, but you can work with Disney Catered Events to plan a private dessert party or meal at one of the resorts or in a theme park (MK excluded). I have a complete tutorial on planning a non-wedding private event at WDW here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/private-party/

One thing you may run into is resistance to helping you with an event for fewer than 10 people. If that happens, you can still work with Private Dining at the Grand Floridian to arrange a private meal on one of the balconies there (a link to info on that option can be found in the first paragraph of that page I linked to above).

Hope this helps!

I just read that the Memories package will only be available through April, and this is not going to work for us. :( If they extend it that would be great, if not we are going to have to find another option.

The Memories package has been extended indefinitely—it just gets a price hike to $2,495 after May 1, 2012. (One thing you'll find as you get more into planning is that the info on Disney's official websites is frequently out of date.) :thumbsup2

What is the best place to get up to date info? I am wondering what can be added and where to look for photography. We are on a limited budget so we may have to go off property for our ceremony. Hoping that will not be the case!

Lurky is the best source of info! She even has a book where you can get loads of up-to-date info on DFTW stuff. She's our resident DFTW guru :) here is a link: http://www.passporter.com/weddings.asp I'm a swan bride so it didn't really apply to me but from what I hear from DFTW brides, the info in this book will save you far more than you spend on buying it.
