With your family, you could rent either a studio or a 1-bedroom.
A studio is approximately like a standard hotel room. At OKW the studios have two queen sized beds; I believe all of the other resorts have a queen bed and a sleeper sofa. A studio also includes a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee-maker, plus plastic utensils and paper plates.
A one-bedroom is more like an apartment. It has a master bedroom, bath with jacuzzi tub, living room with sleeper sofa, and a FULL kitchen, including dishware and utensils. I think all of the one bedrooms have either a VCR or a DVD player.
About the only downside of a
DVC rental is you do not have daily housekeeping service. You will get towel and trash service on the fourth day only, but you can get full housekeeping for an extra fee.
Another place to compare info is Allears.net. Here's their accommodations page
http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.htm Scroll down the list on the left margin and you will eventually come to the DVC resorts. There, you will find a lot of info about square footage, amenities, and a lot of photos of every size unit at every resort.
From your original post, I read you are staying six nights, arriving on Monday, Feb 27 and departing on Sunday, Mar 5. If you are leaving on Mar 4 (5 nights), the numbers will be somewhat lower.
Depending on resort, a studio will be 98-120 points. If you are leaving on the 4th, it would be only 71-88 points.
A one-bedroom would be 196-240, depending on resort. If you are leaving on the 4th, that would change to 142-180.
Points typically rent for $10-12, and you can do the math from there. There are no taxes or additional fees with a points rental, although some resorts have valet parking for a fee.
