Wow, this board is GREAT!!! We're planning a trip to WDW next year. We're thinking of going either the first week of January or waiting until sometime in Feb. Is there much of a difference for crowds, weather and that type of thing? I haven't been to WDW since I was a kid, so this will sort of be like a first time for me. We're pretty sure we want to camp. I'm so happy to read about all of the positive aspects of FW. We have a tent trailer. We'd also like to be close to a playground (if possible). We have 4 small kids and would like them to be in view of us at all times (they will be 7, almost 6, 3.5 and almost 2). Can anyone recommend the "perfect" site for us?

First off WELCOME and it looks like we might be the only to crazies up at this hour. :rotfl2:

Anywho first off you can only request loops and while not guaranteed most of the time you get the loop you want. A tent trailer can stay in any loop, but the 1500 and 2000 are designed with tents, tent trailers, and Van type campers in mind since they don't have a sewer connection. You might want to take a look at the map of FW in the stickies at the top of this forum. As far a playgrounds, IIRC there really aren't any "traditional" type playgrounds at FW.

Once some of these "Late Sleepers" or maybe I should call them "Normal" folks wake up a lot have tent/tent trailer experience and can probably help you more than I can.

One thing to remember is that there is a lot of water close to many of the loops so with little ones you have to sort of really watch them and not just let them run loose.

Well in January till about the middle of February is Value Season, then it jumps up in price, so that may be a consideration for you as far as dates.

We also have a pop up camper. We just returned. I posted some pics in the sticky at the top about site pics and a few more in a thread that I started myself.

We stayed in the 500 loop. Not real close to a playground but a great loop. You could check out the map for playground locations. I believe Loop 200 was close to a playground if I am not mistaken.

We choose to get a site with cable TV. My DD loves the Disney Channel. Makes early mornings and evenings nice while preparing meals and wind down time. Just our personal choice.

Welcome!

welcome, all the loops are great, but 1900 is the least favored. 1500 is close to the pool, campfire, playground, store, bike barn but a little busy. 2000 is a bit away but quiet. we wnt the first week of Jan. 06 and it was the least crowded I had ever seen it. .Happy Trails to you.

Welcome!!!!! We stayed last December in the 1500 loop and loved it! Our kids are a little older, but we let them run over to the playground while we set up camp. It was a short way to the pool, trading post, campfire and bus stop! I would definetly recommend that loop!

Larry, LOL yes it was crazy to be up at that time. I'm glad I wasn't alone LOL. Also, we've been to a few campsites where the playground is literally right across from our campsite and I was picturing more of that type of situation. I wouldn't let any of my kids out of site yet. They're still way too young. Thanks so much for the advice. I guess I'll just have to figure out what loop is best to request. Sounds like 1500 might be a good one.

Carol, how do I find out what dates the price goes up? This will have a bearing on when we go.

Ami, is the playground in view of some of the sites in the 1500 loop? It's difficult to tell from the map.

We could make out the top of the playground, but couldn't actually see our kids unless we walked up to the road. We were on the corner, 1521 I think. We could hear them though. For once, we were happy that our kids talk way too loud!:lmao:
