I've never been to Disneyland (or other Disney theme park), and I am planning our first trip for Mid-May 2011 with my family (DH and 2 boys who will be 4 and almost 2). I'm looking for a ton of advice!!! We are going to be visiting on a strict budget, staying at Dolphin Cove Timeshare, we are a vegan family, and we want to celebrate my older son's 4th birthday while we are there (again, on the cheap). If anyone can point me in the right direction for these specifics, please let me know, thanks!

I have never thought about trying to maintain a vegan diet in Disney, but I am sure it can be done. I assume your timeshare has a kitchen so that would help with preparing breakfast and Dinners, and also give you a way to possibly prepare snacks and even lunches to take with you. While you can't bring in a huge cooler of food to eat, if you have some things in a backpack or other reasonable bag there shouldn't be a problem. Obviously you want to consider things that are easy to transport and will hold up well in the heat of the day. This will also help you with your budget.

Check out this site: http://allears.net/din/vegcsparks.htm While most if it really pertains to WDW in Florida, it should also give you insight on what to look for in DL since their Dining services are essentially the same.

Do a search here on the Boards for Vegan-- I know we have had some threads in the past where veg/vegan shared ideas and that would be a good source to ask questions and get information.

As for the birthday-- he gets to spend his 4th birthday in Disneyland! :woohoo: Is there really anything better? Let him be "King" of the family for the day and decide what to ride and all that and he will love it!

I see that you have found our Disneyland boards so that should provide you a lot of help.

Good Luck and have fun! :)

You have some great advice here from lovetoscrap, I'll just add that mousesavers.com is another source for budget friendly ideas. They have a list of things that are free, or almost free, to do at WDW, and I'm sure most of it would apply to Disneyland as well.

You'll have a great trip!

And welcome aboard!

Hi! Good luck with your trip, you've definitely comet to the right place. As for vegan diets, although our family is not vegan we have a lot of food issues that preclude animal products. We've found it very easy to get fresh fruit and veggies and most snack stands/counter service restaurants. And they have ice pops (dairy free!) at the little carts too :thumbsup2 I certainly suggest planning to bring your own lunches otherwise you'll spend more time quizzing the servers than actually walking around the parks. You may be able to eat some of the vegetarian - dairy free kosher meals, I don't know if they have eggs, though. You may want to check. Weberman in Miami is the creator of those meals. Lots of luck!

Welcome to the DIS! Enjoy your first trip to the magic! You and your family will have a great time..:thumbsup2

Thanks for the link... hopefully we'll be able to even visit WDW someday. It also gives me a good idea what might be available in DLR. Our timeshare will have a kitchen, and I will probably make him his own vegan cake from there.
