Hello everyone!

New to the boards, and yes, planning a VR, but haven't booked it yet.
Still trying to figure out the details & my hubby wants a "breakdown" of costs and plans etc etc before he completely agrees to a DW.

About us, we were married last April and have an almost 9 mo old baby boy. So we never had the time, money or chance to really plan out a wedding. Not to mention, I was humongus & miserable being 8 months pregnant. This is both our 2nd marriages. I have a 17 yr old son from a previous relationship.

What we are looking at: More then likely the Escape package, only immediate family & the kids. So really looking at a total of about 20 of us. And sadly, neither of us have our parents anymore, so I was going to have my Godmother give me away. My sister is married & they have 3 kids all under 14. And only other person would be my BFF & her daughter, who is 9.

An idea I was thinking was doing the Terrace at the Wilderness Lodge and then having all of us do Hoop Dee Doo Revue dinner afterwards (if we can do it).

The other idea was totally going Luau/Hawaiian theme at the Poly & doing the Luau dinner (but I hear the food isn't that good).

My husband is very much a Southern man-- wants his Sweet Tea, fried chicken and cornbread. We are not fancy-schmancy people. But I really want something pretty for our ceremony & comfy for our "reception".

Looking forward to dreaming with all of you!

Kelly

Congratulations on planning your upcoming Val renewal. Your plans sounds like a lot of fun however I will warn you that the sunrise Terrace at the wilderness Lodge only has space for a maximum of 10 people so it looks like your guest count will exceed that limit.

I know I'm cutting it close with Sunrise Terrace & my head count.
It's all going to depend on if my BFF can make it or not. I have a lot of planning ahead & what if's.

Thanks for the podcast links. I'll have to listen to it tomorrow (it's after midnight here)

I have a simple question though, are we able to do any of the beaches in the Escape package? I didn't see it listed as a place, only in the Memories. Or are you limited to those only places to choose from?

Yes you are limited to those locations only i'm afraid.

BUMMER!!

Ok, so why am I seeing on various websites that people have done places like the Attic at the Boardwalk or at the fireplace at the Wilderness Lodge?

Don't Escape weddings have a little more location flexibility? People are posting about memories weddings but isn't the OP talking about having an Escape ceremony?

Ah - I got confused and thought we were talking about Memories when I saw mention of Sunrise Terrace and Luau Beach. Sorry!

However there really isn't any flexibility with the Escape locations, anymore than there is with Memories. And the Poly (Luau) beach is not an option for Escape. The closest you'd get with Escape would be Sea Breeze Point or maybe the Wedding Pavilion if you walked over to the beach for photos after the ceremony.

Escape couples can hold catered meals at the Attic, and Memories collection couples can use Wilderness Lodge's Sunrise Terrace for ceremonies because they have small-enough groups. The fireplace at WL has never been a ceremony location, so I'm not sure what you saw...

I'll have to see where I found it. I have been flipping thru so many websites & looking at pictures. AND THEN, I discovered your book!!! THANK YOU!!
Maybe it's an alternative locale for rain for the Sunrise Terrace? dunno??

I have a feeling now we maybe doing a Memories since my sister is being a Royal pain in the you know what & whining about money & not wanting to take the kids out of school (looking at Fall)...blah blah blah.

I love her & want her & the kids there, but honestly if she's going to fight me on it I'm ok with them not being there. Last thing I want on our special day is some Oscar the grouch. I'll send her a postcard.
