Hi

Although I have just registered today, I have been following the advice given on this forum for several years.

I am looking for flights for the end of next June (around 27th) for 3 weeks to Florida. We stay in a luxury villa near Champions Gate that belongs to a friend of mine, so don't need accommodation, but will need to rent a car.

We went to Florida last year and it was amazing, so can't wait to get back. Last time we flew with Flyglobespan from Glasgow (we live between Edinburgh and Glasgow, but are willing to travel to other airports). The flight and entertainment, or lack of it, were awful. This time we wondered about Virgin, Continental or booking a flydrive through Virgin Holidays.

Any advice on these flights, especially entertaimnent quality would be much appreciated.

Hi welcome to the dis,

We live in aberdeen and we used flyglobespan and would have again if not for them going bust.

We used BA and found them to be pretty good last year but the prices they were charging this year were far too high and with all the threats of strikes just put us right off. The flights were good and the inflight movies etc were pretty good too plenty of choice and you could pause etc which was great when you needed the toilet or the food was being served.

This year we are going aerlingus Glasgow to dublin and then onto orlando international. We found them to be the only airline that would let us book the extras leg room seats at the time we booked. I know other airlines offer this service but most of the flights on those airlines went to sanford rather than orlando international. Aerlingus have installed a new system on their planes to the US which offers same idea as BA with the pause etc but also a range of games that you can play on your own or against other people on the flight. Flight times and prices pretty good even with having to stay over night in glasgow it still worked out cheaper than BA.

Most of the tour operators i found that go from scotland on a fly drive will fly into sanford not orlando international.

Can't help with car hire as we stay on site and use either disney buses or taxis if going elsewhere. Saves the argument on who is driving that day.

Welcome to the dis.

My brother and SIL used Continental from Edinburgh via Newark in June this year.

They also fly from Glasgow but the prices from Edinburgh were cheaper.

Virgin have extended their flight schedule from Glasgow but the prices were really high. I think they may be cheaper if you can book at the 11 month window. Virgin fly drive can be booked further in advance, but I wouldn't say their car hire was the cheapest.

For car hire you are usually best booking via an independent broker but not always. I'd try:-
usrentacar
uscarhire
netflights
carhire3000 (7% via quidco)
carhireflorida
autoeurope.
brits alamo. 6.5% also via quidco though some cashback has been rejected

Hertz, 10% off via quidco and another 10% using AA CDP 504335
