I'm going to join WW. I just don't know if I should join the online version or the meetings version. Online price is right. Meetings - not sure if I'm a meetings person. plus it's so much more $. I'm thinking meetings might be more motivational for me though.

If I join the meetings version, what do I get upon joining? Which books if any? I see the books on ebay. I did try the online version 3 years ago. I just didn't follow through (my fault) and didn't have the books. I realize now I can buy the books separately (ebay, etc.).

I need to lose 20 pounds. Would love to lose 30, but 20 is "all" I need to lose in order to get to a good weight for my height. I will do this by October 1. That's my goal.

thank you for help!

will bump this up for you so you can get some answers......good luck

Hi, Jennifer! Congratulations on making such an important decision. Having done WW meetings and now doing it on-line, I think I can probably answer your questions at least in part. What most people seem to take from the meetings in the comaraderie and the ability to ask questions and hear how other people are doing. There is also the "carrot" of the little rewards and acknowledgments you get for each 5 lbs lost.

Having said all that, I re-started WW back in January and made the decision NOT to go to meetings. I decided that that one hour a week could be better spent at the gym. I made the commitment initially to go to the gym at the time I would have gone to the meeting. I bought the Weight Watchers magazine and read it while I rode the recumbent bike. It was very satisfying. Here I am, 4+ months later, 35+ pounds down, totally OP and totally addicted to exercising and somehow, it works.

You have to decide what you need from the program. Some people really need to go step on a scale in front of someone every week and they need the group support. However, you may find that the support you get here is even better and more personal than you'd get in a meeting room. And, heck, you have a scale at home, right?

If you have the right tools, you can do this with or without meetings -- know the plan, establish an unfailing commitment to journaling all your food, drinking all your water, getting some exercise, etc.

20 pounds by October seems very very do-able. Good luck! And remember, we are here for you if you have any questions. Feel free to PM me.

I can't answer your question as I just joined online on Mon., so I've only been doing this for 3 days. I just want to wish you good luck with whatever you decide to do! :goodvibes

Hi there,
Welcome to WISH!

I do the weekly meetings. I do feel comfortable that I could do this without the weekly meetings except for one thing. I really find I'm more accountable when I have an official weekly Weigh-in. I find when I don't make it to a meeting one week even thought I weigh-in at home, I just don't seem to hold the same accountability as I do when I go to my meeting to WI.

Weight watchers is wonderful and you will find so much help and support here on WISH. Glad you are joining us.
