Hello! My name is Jodi and my husband and I would like to take our two children (they will be almost five and almost 2 at the time of vacation next May) to Disney. We are considering getting a hotel on the ocean and then just visiting the the parks for two of the five days we will be staying. Do you think that two days at the parks would be enough considering their ages?

We want to stay close to the ocean since we love it but also want to see the parks. Is two days enough?

Welcome to the DIS!

I'm not sure if you are aware, but the closest ocean to WDW is more than an hour away (either direction, Gulf or Atlantic). So youi'll be doing a lot of driving back and forth on the two days you want to visit WDW.

If you stay at the parks all day (which you'll probably want to do since park passes cost a lot of money, and you'll only have two days), then you won't get much of a chance to enjoy the beach on those days.

Maybe you should stay on Disney property (or near Disney property) the two days you want to visit and spend the rest of the time at the beach?

Just my two cents...

Hi! Welcome!

I think that if you want to do it the way you suggest, you could choose just 2of the parks to visit this time. Since you have little children, I would say Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom might be best. It would be diffucult to see all 4 parks in 2 days and get your moneys worth - you do not want to have to rush through them.

I hope that helps!

Stacey

Maybe do a split stay, like two days at a Disney resort, and pick the two parks you want to visit. (I agree with the above posted, MK and AK might be the best choices with smaller children.) And then stay someplace on or near the beach for the other three days. Two to three hours travel time each day (depending on I-4 traffic, which can be heinous) will severely cut into your park time and level of enjoyment. Either that, or if it's in your budget, and depending on how much beach/ocean time you want, drive out to the beach for a day.

I agree with the previous posts, stay near Disney for the day or days you want to visit. To drive over an hour after walking the parks all day in the heat...no fun, IMO.

Personally I would not want to fight the traffic traveling from the beach to Disney or make the drive back to the beach after a long day in the parks. I would do a split stay...part of the trip at the beach and part of the trip at Disney. MK is a 2 day park, Epcot is a 2 day park, AK is a full day park and MGM is a half day park. If you have park hopper tickets you could do AK from morning to late afternoon and then head to MGM or Epcot for the rest of the afternoon/evening. I would definitely spend 1 full day & night at MK, especially since you have little one's. Or plan to spend both days at MK.

Hi and Welcome to the Dis. I would like to say that Disney is such a Magical Place. Once you start seeing it through your childrens eyes, it is going to be hard to leave. The children are going to have a great time, and so will you!!! Plan your trip, make your dining reservations for character meals. They are so much fun with children that are your childrens ages. You asked, if 2 days is going to be enough, I would say, NO! There is so much to do. If you have not seen the ocean, take a day and do it. There are water parks, great pools, wonderful parks, there is just so much to tell you. I would read, read, and read. Where are you staying? When are you going? Can you stay longer than 5 days?

Hi, Welcome to the DIS:welcome:

In my opinion I do not think that two days are enough at Disney. I stayed there with my son and husband last summer and we were there 7 days and 6 nights and we did not come close to seeing and doing everything.

Disney can be so great not only for the child but the adult also. Personally I would stay on Disney property (or close) and do a one day trip to the beach or I would do Disney for three days and after relax on the beach for two days.

Just read, read, and read everything here on the DIS and you will do fine.
