You may be referring to a couple of different things. There's the Family Magic Tour that takes place in the Magic Kingdom. It's a scavenger hunt, and it's for the entire family.

For the kids (ages 4-10) there's also a Pirate Adventure that leaves from the Grand Floridian pirate:

There's a similar kids adventure that leaves from the Beach Club (I think), but I don't recall what it's called.

Is this what you are asking about?

FAMILY MAGIC TOUR
Magic Kingdom

A tour the whole family can enjoy is offered at the Magic Kingdom. Family Magic Tour takes you on a one-of-a-kind interactive tour through Main St, Liberty Square, Tomorrowland and Fantasyland. During the 2 hours, you are taken through the park's themed lands in search of clues (like a treasure hunt).

Offered daily at 10 a.m.

Disney Family Magic Tour is open to everyone.

$25 for adults and children (plus tax) AND Magic Kingdom Park Admission.

SPECIAL NOTE: - The Special Character at the end of the tour does vary.

I have never done this but I have read several reviews and it sounds like fun. You may want to post this question on the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board. As far as student holidays--those can vary widely from state to state. Nearly all US students will have returned to school by the first/second week of September. HTH :flower:

We did the Family Magic Tour at MK in 2004. At that time it was a treasure hunt type of event with a map, clues, etc. We met the CM who conducted the tour at about 10 am or so and there were 2 or 3 other families in the group - maybe 20 people total. The CM (who was very energetic and funny herself) let all the kids take turns reading the clues and we made our way down all around the MK looking for Captain Hook's hook. It lasted about 2 hours and at the end I think we found the hook in that little garden tucked behind Liberty Square and at that time we were met by Peter Pan. We had time for photos and autographs with him then he took eveyone with him to ride It's A Small World (and we went in the exit to cut bypass the line). He sat right in the boat with us. I haven't read any recent reviews of this tour so I don't know if any changes have been made or not. If it's still the same, I'd highly reccommend it but it is a lot of walking and you can't stop at rides and things so for first-time MK visitors I'd say don't do it on your first day. It was a very fun and memorable family experience for us.
